X does not seem to understand automagically the change in video even though the new video info is in /etc/sysconfig/hwconf
So what steps are needed to get X fixed?

Run 'system-config-display --reconfig'
This will force your system to generate a new xorg.conf, which you can set to use your new card.

YES!!!!!

Now I have one, I hope, minor cleanup. On boot I get a warning about atkbd.c failure. Well, yeah, the install system had PS/2 keyboard and mouse ports. The target system does not, using only USB (or bluetooth).
Also it seems that udev takes a long time to start.
