Perhaps a note to Matt Morgan but might be of general interest to others...

Packaged in redhat-kde repository a very current samba instead of the laggard packages from upstream.

I've not been using it and in fact I only just now realized it as I was updating the kde stuff but it's undoubtedly the easiest way to get to samba-3.0.21b
