Hi all,
When i want to shutdown my laptop (the result is the same from command line as from gdm), screen gets blank, but computer restarts.
APM is disabled (this laptop doesn't support it), and disabling ACPI is no solution, because it controls the fan.
Kernel version is 2.6.9-11.EL and CPU is Pentium Centrino. Laptop is an AIRIS 840.
I use different distros (ubuntu, debian and knoppix) to reproduce this problem without a result.
How can I solve this problem?.
Thank you for your help.

Hi, I am actually having same problem, except my laptop reboots only when plugged in. If I am running on battery and issue the shutdown command the laptop turns off just fine. My laptop is a Compaq presario x1015ea, equivalent to HP nx7000 if I am not wrong. Processor is centrino, two years old, the 1Mb cache type, and I am running the latest CentOS 4 all updated. Just thought I would jump in to finally fix it :)
Cheers Simone

Does is the LAN plugged in? If so does it happen with the LAN disconnected?

Is there a newer version of the BIOS available?
I've had issues with some systems where the WOL seems to wake the system anytime it sees broadcast traffic.

Hi, maybe this can be helpful:
http://bugme.osdl.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3669
it is a patch that is reported to fix this problem. It's not possible for me now to give it a try, I don't have my laptop with me, maybe tonight I will have time, and I will report to the list. Please let me know if this worked to be a valid solution for you, thanks.
