Hi,
I'm looking into purchasing a few Dell Servers and installing it with CentOS 4.1. It comes with this software called the the Dell OpenManage Software Kit for PowerEdge that allows for remote monitoring of the servers.
Has anyone out there successfully installed the OpenManage s/ware? Is it compatible with CentOS 4.1?
Any opinions / feedback is welcome.
Thanks.
Best Regards, Andrew
First question to be asked would be, is it for Windows or Linux?

My experience with Open Manage is that it's a Windows-based product. It's quite good, although there seems to be a penchant for it to get smacked around by Microsoft updates.

I've just installed OpenManage onto 2 Dell PowerEdge 2850's running CentOs 4.1 - works great. I can monitor the hardware from a nice web interface and set up alerts. It was very straight forward to install.

It should work just fine with the latest and greatest OMSA. For more details you should probably head over to:

There are Dell OpenManage agents for Linux. I don't know if their entire management suits runs on Linux, but they do provide the agents.
