hi Guys,
We've been trying to get something like this setup for long time, now thanks to Khusro Jaleel's efforts its online! The CentOS Promo request system is available at http://promo.centos.org/
And we have some TShirts there - three different designs, six different colours and a few options on sizes for each type. Get them quick!
The TShirts are already paid for by sponsors, all you need to do is cover shipping. And I'll pack them up, put them in a bag, send them on their way via Royal Mail. It would be really nice if you could takes some 'action shots' when you get these TShirts and send them in, we'd love to get these up on the website. And send in a story as well, about you, about what you do with Linux and how CentOS fits in. But above all else, make it about yourself.
If you or your company want to sponsor some more TShirts ( we need lots ) or other stuff, like Stickers, usb keys, hats etc, please get in touch.
I realise some of the postal costs are high for non EU destinations, I'm trying to workout something so we can get some stuff over to the US, SouthAmerica and the far east directly in bulk and have them posted around locally. But that is something for the next round of print runs - and we need sponsors for that.
Enjoy!
There's no way to see what shipping is without checking out -- which means registering. Do you know what shipping is to the US in general?
For Shipping to the US it appears to be about ~$17 per shirt or there abouts....I did 2 of them and it was $35...

There is a page on delivery info ( linked from the info section at the bottom of the homepage ).
Basically, I went over to the RoyalMail postoffice and got them to price up a 'large' tshirt being posted within the UK, to the rest of the EU, to America/Canada and rest of the world. Prices to ship the XXL and the 3XL are higher, but then shipping the Small and Medium sizes are a bit lower, so I'm hoping it averages out.
to the UK: £5, to rest of EU : £7.50 and to the US/Canada its £10, rest of the world : £15

I apologise for this - but the hosting company where this is located decided now would be a great time to suspend and cancel our account.
Which makes the promo site availability rather low. Zero to be precise.
Please stand by while we either get a failover online, or bring this machine back up.

Whatever money comes through the donation amounts will get recycled into getting more TShirts and maybe we can get some stickers as well this time.

oof, so my paypal for £40.00 GBP is in limbo somewhere? paypal says 'pending...'
[btw, £10.00 GBP is about US$15.86 now, although paypal won't tell me what they are going to charge me in USD]

not at all, all requests that did go through are fine, its just that more people cant get to the site at the moment ( there are still about 80 TShirts left in stock )
the paypal transactions are setup as authorization rather than payments outright, so once I mark the goods as 'shipped' the money is taken from your account at the time.

aha, best to make sure the USD goes up and the GBP down in the next 2 days in that case :)

fat chance. both are going down like a rock in relationship to real values (of course, any official 'inflation' figures are heavily jiggered to disguise this reality)
Hi guys,
Three things, 1st I would like to sponsor some stickers. Karan, you can reach me on Jabber if you want.
2nd I would also like to offer free hosting for the promo site.
3rd I can offer a storage area for delivery of TShirts, but it is in Bulgaria(Eastern Europe).
Regards, Marian
Maybe we can setup a localize distribution point in major continents to cut shipping cost. Not sure how to do that though.

lets look at that seriously for the next round that we get done. One option might be to have people signup and request stock before its actually produced. So we know what sort of numbers need to be delivered in what area.
In some places, like the EU and US, I suspect that pretty much any stock we can produce will be requested and taken up. Similarly in Japan as well. In other areas, where uptake might not be that high we would need to workout numbers carefully. And also perhaps look for local sponsors and production resources. I know for a fact that production for 200 TShirts in Singapore is lower than getting them done here in the UK.

Sounds good, thanks

We don't setup individual site hosting arrangements. If you can contribute servers and b/w into the .centos.org pool that would be welcome.

I think we are ok for Europe for the Tshirts to be in the UK, the by weight shipping is actually cheapest from here ( based on an adhoc lookup we did on irc earlier in the day ); this is more of an issue for place where the distances are too far from the UK. And we have a high'ish concentration of requests. eg. the US and Japan.
