Hello,
I have a Dual boot laptop that is running XP and Centos,i would like to remove the Centos from the laptop. How would i go about doing this since Centos loaded the grub loader onto the MBR i can not just go and delete the Centos part since grub will still be in the MBR
thanks
Steven

Boot your computer from the WIN-CD select "Recover-Mode"
You get a commandline.
Type:
c:> fixmbr
Reboot - and WIN will be started

And from the old days, I wonder if this still works.
boot from anything (usually a floppy) and do
fdisk /mbr
I've not tried it with DOS 7(?), but since MS stuff tries to keep compatability until diosaurs like me actually *die*... >>:-O

One needs a Win 9x or DOS for this to work. These days, fixmbr works equally well on Windows XP.

Yep. Maybe it is time to toss the floppies for my Win95? I wonder if the media is still good? In a box in a cool place. I doubt I load them on anything again and I don't want to trust the media for anything actually useful.
I'm hanging on to Win98 though until I am convinced that WinXP is actually better ... couple more years! ;-)

Use it on a laptop and hibernate/wake up many times with different wireless access points available or alternately on wired and wireless connections. XP handles this pretty well.

Yep. I've got a Toshiba Satellite P35 that was on the road with me for about a year. 802.11g wireless and internal Atheros (I think some on this list said they sucked?) and it did OK. But I had no prior experience with that stuff, so I can't compare.
Having been an *almost* exclusive *IX* user since mid-seventies, I saw all the MS as "Same crap new $100 box". Somewhat justified by the fact that I still see the same blue screens, erratic reliability and some MS- caused things.
Maybe UofW "nook" project will help some of the bombs caused by the 65,000+ plus drivers available.
Linux is becoming subject to the same thing because of it's development model and experience level and lack of ... various attributes. Nook also works (in fact was developed using?) with Linux.

XP might not be better, but as of now, it is the only one of the two that is still supported. To be real off-topic, has any one else tried Windows 3.1 on a current machine .. just for nostalgia? Talk about a fast OS!
