Was wondering if anyone can help with this, im trying to install vmware-server on a 64 bit centos 4.2 machine and then install is saying it can't find the libX11.so.6 lib and more
The correct version of one or more libraries needed to run VMware Server may be missing. This is the output of ldd /usr/bin/vmware: linux-gate.so.1 => (0xffffe000) libm.so.6 => /lib/tls/libm.so.6 (0xf7fd1000) libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0xf7fcd000) libpthread.so.0 => /lib/tls/libpthread.so.0 (0xf7fbb000) libX11.so.6 => not found libXtst.so.6 => not found libXext.so.6 => not found libXt.so.6 => not found libICE.so.6 => not found libSM.so.6 => not found libXrender.so.1 => not found libz.so.1 => not found libc.so.6 => /lib/tls/libc.so.6 (0x00b4e000) /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x00b35000)
howver i have the 64bit versions of these filesand im unable to install the i386 for arch reasons im sure off, just wondering if anyone had come across acure for this is it just a case that the vmware product needs to be compiled against 64bit libs and not 32 bit libs
Cheers

VMWare doesn't provide 64-bit binaries. The 64-bit OS will run the 32-bit binaries just fine, but you must have the 32-bit libraries as well. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having 32-bit libraries installed alongside the 64-bit libraries (other than it's annoying).
