I´m having trouble with the quote key. I need to hit it twice for the quotation character to appear. This is true for both double and single quotes.
I can´t find where I would fix that. Could someone give me a hint.
Thank you.

Have you tried a new keyboard to eliminate a hardware problem?
It would appear that something got changed in my keyboard configuration. I was digging around and found that I could delete and re-added my selections via '/usr/bin/gnome-keyboard-properties' and now all is well.
My guess is that the quote key had some how been defined as a hotkey or something.

It sounds like you're using a Spanish keyboard, which uses both ' and " as "dead keys" so that you can type, for example, 'a to get á or "u to get ü.
