First deduce what Raid Levels mean, possibly at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_RAID_levels. A mirror across 6 tiny discs like those won't leave you much room :) You might gain the performance/redundancy you need with an alternative level, I doubt you need 6 discs mirrored:) What are you doing with this server? That will help define what config/partitioning scheme you might want to use.
Do you have a cdrom or DVDrom? That dictates what media type to download, unless you want to do a net install for example.
Goto HP's site and download the manual for your server so you can figure out how to configure boot orders, array's etc.
As far as the NIC's go, you could use a combination of lspci and ifconfig, just watch as it goes up and down when you move the cables for example.
Good luck, jlc

you have to configure the RAID card before OS installation otherwise you will not get a desired result -
just go into the RAID bios, set it how you want, then install the OS

t. hiep,
Basically you need a Compaq smartstart cd specific for this unit
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/smartstartinfo.html
I am guessing it would be version 5.5 that you need yet you can try whatever version you want up to a certain version and they will tell you whether or not they are support on that unit when you try and boot into them
It is possible that the version 6 family will work yet you will have to trial and error it.
Once you get the one you need, then you can use it to erase the current config and then reboot and start from scratch making the raid you want
You will choose the opsys you want and raid levels
If raid1, you would do 3 raid1 2 disk arrarys
If raid5, you can group them all in one disk
Or you could do 1 raid1 array with 2 disks and a raid5 arrays with the other 4 etc
It is pretty easy once you are used to it.
With 6 disks, I would pry go with a raid5 array with a hot spare or whatever.
Here is the basic docs.
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Home.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&... TypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=316593
don't waste a lot of time there, mostly you just need to get hands on and play.

Also
Here is an actual download link for smart start cd
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lan g=en&cc=US&swItem=MTX-370430439b0e4f4dbaef91ce39
otherwise you will only find pay links
you will have to choose an old old opsys to get a 5.5 link, like windows server 2000
I dunno if you need smartstart 5.5, 6.x or 7.1
You will have to trial and error on that G2
Don't worry about the opsys so much, just download and burn the isos and start to trial and error

Oops.
I made a mistake on that last link for a Compaq smartstart cd
I apologize
This is better, and please notice the wrap
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodName Id=344318&lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18964&prodSeriesId=345557&taskId=135
as an example, to get a 5.50 smartstart cd, click on NT 4.0 Opsys and then click on the download link
again my apologies for that last post with bad link
it is a pain to find, so I wanted to be of great help
thanks again and kind regards!
