Hello List
I am just wondering if anyone knows if RedHat did realease a power pc version of rhel 4, I have looked around and I see some packages that says that it is for rhel 4 ppc but I am a bit unsure since our suppliers says no there is only for version 5.

There is a 64-bit PPC version of RHEL 4 which is listed in RHN. The exact channel is called "Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS (v. 4 for 64-bit IBM POWER)"

There is a PPC64 RHEL4.x but you need an IBM Power machine (aka iSeries , pSeries or JS2x blade) to use it .. so no PPC32 RHEL available for you Mac .. but there was a CentOS 4.0beta PPC version that i installed on an old G4 at home ..
Hi
Thanks for your feedback.
In the company we are working for we are looking at buying a p520 system with HACMP, that it why I am looking for a ppc version.

I'd run AIX on that. PowerHA (formerly known as HACMP) is still primarily an AIX cluster, with only limited linux support. the extent of that support is detailed here, http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/cgi-bin/ssialias?infotype=dd&subtype=sm... says specifically, RHEL4 or SuSE LES 9.
Full PowerHA for AIX features -> http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/power/software/availability/aix/faq/index.html
I would also involve IBM as much as possible in the setup and configuration of any such cluster, unless you have a large amount of time to waste trying to sort out all the pieces.
Hi John
We are having a test on a Power with Rhel 5 on Tuesday as a proof of concept, the system is from what I understand from IBM supporting fully HACMP for rhel 5, but we will be kicking off in the first installs with rhel 4 since it will be as similar as possible to our current centos 4.4 environment, only in a few months time will we be installing with rhel 5.

RHEL 4 and 5 both works great on the IBM power systems. Ditto for PowerHA (nee HACMP) version 5.4 for both AIX and Linux.
With the p520, I would seriously consider using AIX too. Many Linux tools are available there and depending on your apps you might get better scalability and stability.
