Hi,
After yum update on a Cent OS 6.0 IBM x3850 server to Cent OS 6.1, the kernel crashes on boot.
I have googlet a little, and find that others have the same problem and there seems not to be a solution yet.
The kernel that crashes is 2.6.32-131.21.1.el6.x86_64.
If i boot the prior kernel 2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.x86_64 instead it works!
Is it advisable to run the server with kernel 2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.x86_64 on a Cent OS 6.1 system ?
And what is the problem ? Is it Cent OS / Redhat or IBM ?

There are 6 other kernels in 6.1 that are newer (and have more security updates) than 2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.x86_64. You might try kernel-2.6.32-131.2.1.el6.x86_64.rpm and if it works, work your way up to the kernel that fails.
I do not specifically see an x3850 issue with 6.2 listed in the RH bugzilla.
