It seems CentOS folks did not list Iranian mirrors.. and they don't open access for our ips..
It's strange for open source projects that meant to be free ..

Dear fellow mirror sponsors,
I guess most of the non-us mirrors are annoyed by the Captain America attityde seen in this thread.
Is it possible to help Iran in some alternative way? We could for example implement a geo-ip script that redirects or notifies Iran users about their local alternatives?
Have a nice weekend!

Yes
The only problem is our mirrors (companies and sponsors who hosted Centos mirror locally ) get listed and users redirected to them based on quality measure that centos best mirror selection have.
We are currently in sync with major mirrors and published to our customers and users in IRAN that users in IR.IRAN could set their mirror on one server that hosted in IRAN with different companies to get latest packages and download ISO with highest speed

PLEASE DONT SPAM ANYMORE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE POLICY. 100gb or even 1000gb is not helpful here.
Do not blame Red Hat, eithor blame your country or US government, Red Hat is just an US company, it has to follow the US policy.
You also have rights to ask your customers to set mirror URL by themselves.

Hi,
Please read https://www.centos.org/legal/ about this point. More particularly « Export regulations ».
... and if you think "but this doesn't make any sense!", here's a longer explanation.
As CentOS is part of Red Hat, a U.S. company, CentOS must follow U.S. laws. And unfortunately the U.S. laws specify that exporting certain software to certain countries (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan & Syria) is forbidden. Adding your mirror to the list would be illegal. The CentOS Project can't do anything about this, so complaining about this on this list would be useless. This is something that the U.S. government would need to change. As for which countries are listed and which are not, that is a U.S. decision and not a CentOS decision.
If these export restrictions ever get lifted, the CentOS Project would no doubt be happy to include your mirror on the list. Many in the CentOS Project would be happy to see CentOS used everywhere. This is nothing personal.
Hi There is no compliance ! and I mention that before this is Redhat decision based on US sanction LAWs. what if we use our servers in Europe ( Netherlands ) to host Mirror ?

And he told you that Red Hat is a US based company. We don't make these laws. We don't have to agree with these laws. But we must and will follow them.
Mirrors can not be added from Iran.
We have told you this many times.
We just can't do it.
Thanks, Johnny Hughes
