That worked!  Thanks so much.  I followed your instructions and 
everything worked straight through this time.  I did also need to copy 
Module.symvers from the source from the kernel-devel package to the 
build directory, but your solution did the trick.  The module compiled 
and everything is working now with the Hauppauge device!

I will also submit a bug as suggested as well, in case this can help 
others, too.
