[CentOS-devel] Centos 8 Stream Software app repodata fails

Hey there the "Software" app in GNOME fails to refresh the cache
although it has the URL set to
http://mirror.centos.org/$contentdir/$stream/AppStream/x86_64/os/repodata/repomd.xml
which presumably resolves to this:
http://mirror.centos.org/centos-8/8.0.1905/AppStream/x86_64/os/repodata/

It would seem that it just reads the baseurl from
/etc/yum.repos.d/Centos-Stream-Appstream.repo and yum repolist returns
fine so I'm wondering how to troubleshoot this ? Currently the
"Software" app shows no software at all which is a shame.
