Thank you for being a great student this summer, I have sent in a
passing grade for your mid-term evaluation. I have gone through all of
your work to date and think you are in a good position to finish out
this summer with a strong project.

I apologize very much to you for not making the evaluation deadline,
and for causing you worry and stress around it. There is no excuse for
missing the deadline, especially when I've required you to make
deadlines throughout this year. My only explanation is that I was
mistaken about my workload and ability to be a good mentor to you for
your project. I had many activities and deadlines (work, personal)
that were interacting around the same time last week, and when it came
down to it I failed to complete your evaluation in time.

Although I failed to make the deadline for the evaluation to be sent
in to the Google team, they understand this was my failure and not
yours (the student's.) They have generously allowed me to send in your
evaluation past the deadline.

In contrast to your great work in the CentOS community this summer, I
have not been a very good mentor -- certainly not up to any standard I
consider acceptable. I should have called in help sooner so that your
experience and work wouldn't suffer.

For help I have asked Shaun McCance to join me as a co-mentor for this
project for the remainder of the summer, and to work more closely with
you, myself, and the other student's related project. Shaun has a
tremendous amount of experience as a GSoC mentor around documentation,
as well as other relevant experiences, and he has helped us with this
project all along the way. By having Shaun more actively involved, our
goal is to help you get your project to a good completion and give you
a better experience.

Best regards,

- - Karsten
