You may also need to comment out the caching only config if you are using it. and also the line: include /etc/rndc.key as well when you run rndc-confgen, it will gen a new key and the output will have the syntax and directions to use the new key. For example: You will put the following in named.conf: key "rndc-key" { algorithm hmac-md5; secret "YourNewly-genned-rndc-key-here"; }; controls { inet 127.0.0.1 port 953 allow { 127.0.0.1; } keys { "rndc-key"; }; }; restart named after making the changes
