the desired resolution should be 1280x1020 (19 inch). Your X config needs a modeline for that resolution.

Look in /etc/X11/xorg.conf

and verify that valid modelines are present.
Your driver is built from a shell script? or did you grab an RPM.

Get a root prompt and type
#nvidia-<tab>

play around with any nvidia-settings
