Gigabyte MP30-AR0

Hi, I am toying with the idea of getting a Gigabyte MP30-AR0 board (despite the insanely exorbitant price tag). Has anyone got the aarch64 CentOS working on one of those? Any special instructions? Also, if I get the ISO, is it bootable on aarch64? Does the installer work? Or does the image have to be used like on 32-bit ARM? Thanks. Gordan

Changes for the next armhfp release/images

Hi list, Time permitting, in the last days/weeks, we worked with Pablo (thanks again) to catch up with some things in the CentOS armhfp land. So we'd like to discuss some of the changes we'll probably implement for the next 7.5.18xx release (we still don't know when that will happen though) : # images : - we'll switch from our current rbf scripts to appliance-creator, and we'll host the used kickstart files so that everybody can also respin various images or variants - as we now have Gnome/KDE working correctly and all built, we'll probably start building such images (like for Fedora) - selinux context is now good so doesn't need the "touch /.autorelabel && systemctl reboot" to then switch to enforcing mode - one "Generic" image to rule them all ! Idea is to not build/test for boards like cubietruck/bananapi/etc, as it's all supported upstream, but only one generic image/variant (like minimal or gnome) and just adapt the uboot bootloader. The only exception though will be for raspberrypi (2 and 3 ) : while the Generic image will work (tested already) with upstream kernel, we'll still offer a variant using the rpi foundation kernel, as we did in the past, as that will ensure that such users will also continue to get kernel updates as they get those right now # kernel: - we'll rebase to 4.14.x (new upstream LTS version, even if 4.9.x is still maintained upstream) : that will permit to support more boards probably (rpi kernel will also get a bump, already built too in testing) # uboot-tools : already updated to 2018.03 to also support more boards, but that will become mandatory as we'll *not* build specific images for specific board (as the Generic one can be used everywhere, and will only need the dd if= of=/dev/mmbclk0 for the uboot bootloader -- Fabian Arrotin The CentOS Project | https://www.centos.org gpg key: 56BEC54E | twitter: @arrfab

CentOS 7.5.1804 content now available through CR !

Hi guys, Some of you are probably subscribed to the CentOS-announce list (https://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos-announce) so they saw quite some mails about plenty of pkgs being now released through the CR repository (https://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/Repositories/CR) In the past, we built for all architectures through different build systems, but for this new 7.5.1804 release (rebuilt from 7.5) we started to use a new build process to build for all arches in parallel through one single build system. We never really had any CR repository before for armhfp and aarch64, but content is now signed and pushed : - http://mirror.centos.org/altarch/7/cr/aarch64/ - http://mirror.centos.org/altarch/7/cr/armhfp/ So that means that if people want to start getting up2date pkgs without waiting for the official GA release (as we need to build the correct install trees and isos images), a simple yum update would work, *but* , as said, we never had any proper CR repo defined through centos-release (or centos-userland-release) for aarch64 and armhfp That will be fixed in the next -release file (already ready for 7.5.1804 GA release) In the meantime, people willing to update can do the following (manual steps, as root) : ### echo "altarch" > /etc/yum/vars/contentdir cat > /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-CR.repo << EOF [cr] name=CentOS-$releasever - cr baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/\$contentdir/\$releasever/cr/\$basearch/ gpgcheck=1 gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-CentOS-7 enabled=0 EOF yum update --enablerepo=cr ### Feedback welcome ! -- Fabian Arrotin The CentOS Project | https://www.centos.org gpg key: 56BEC54E | twitter: @arrfab

wireless mac address

Hello, I don't know if this is a dev issue/problem, but I bought 2 RPI 3 about a year ago, and installed centos on one (the other one I haven't even used yet). It seems the Mac address changes every reboot? (into something 'random', because the first 2 numbers indicate the manufacturer, right? Is this a known issue? is it an OS or hardware issue? thanks, Ron
