Hi, I am toying with the idea of getting a Gigabyte MP30-AR0 board (despite the insanely exorbitant price tag). Has anyone got the aarch64 CentOS working on one of those? Any special instructions? Also, if I get the ISO, is it bootable on aarch64? Does the installer work? Or does the image have to be used like on 32-bit ARM? Thanks. Gordan

Issues with SELinux Configuration on CentOS 8

Hello everyone, I’m currently working on a CentOS 8 server and have been facing some challenges with SELinux configuration. I need to set up a web server using Apache, but I keep running into permission denied errors when trying to access certain directories. I’ve checked the SELinux status using the sestatus command, and it shows that SELinux is enforcing. I’ve tried setting the context for the directories using chcon, but the changes don’t persist after a reboot. Here are the steps I’ve taken so far: Verified SELinux status with sestatus. Used chcon to change the context of the directories. Attempted to set SELinux to permissive mode temporarily to see if it resolves the issue. Despite these efforts, I’m still unable to access the directories as intended. Could anyone provide guidance on how to properly configure SELinux for Apache on CentOS 8? Are there specific policies or commands I should be using to ensure that the changes persist after a reboot? Any help would be greatly appreciated! How to Use UEFI on Gigabyte MP30-AR0

Hello everyone, As I've wrote in url[1], I recently got a Gigabyte Mp30-AR0 (rev 1.1) motherboard from a online second-hand market. Thanks to those helpful Linux enthusiasms, I'm now clear that I should firstly find a way to turn the motherboard from U-Boot mode to UEFI mode. And I saw a discuss thread from this mailing-list(url[2]), especially messages, as url[3] to [6]. I do not want to write UEFI firmware into onboard flash or EEPROM.  Instead, I wish I could put the firmware just in a USB-storage or SD card,  so that the original on-board U-Boot and build-in OpenLinux.  So I would like to boot as Gordan Bobic and Michael Howard had discussed: (Also referring to url[4], [5] and [6].) 1) u-boot (on-board) 2) UEFI (wherever u-boot can fetch it from) 3) grub (off the UEFI FAT partition on the target disk) 4) Kernel (/boot partition) However, I couldn't find out how to set U-Boot to boot as above. One another problem is that, I couldn't get access to url[9], which is mentioned in url[3], [7] and [8]. Thank you for your generous help in advance. Also please pardon my not reply on time because I couldn't apply your advises into use immediately. nss-3.67.0-4 (and related packages) missing for arm-64

Hi I a running centos-7.9 (CentOS Linux release 7.9.2009 (AltArch)) nss had a vulnerability reported with a CVSS score of 9.8 (https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2021-43527) I can see that there is a x86_64 package for nss that fixes this vulnerability (nss-3.67.0-4.el7_9.x86_64) rpm -q nss --changelog |head -n 10 * Thu Nov 18 2021 Bob Relyea <rrelyea(a)redhat.com> - 3.67.0-4 - fix CVE-2021-43527 However, when I tried to find the updated package for aarch64, I don't see a package fixing this vulnerability for aarch64. Reading the security report seems to indicate that this affects all architectures. I can also see that amazonlinux and oracle linux have released nss packages to address this vulnerability. Looking through the centos forums, I have not been able to figure out why this package is missing for aarch64. Does someone know why this package with high vulnerability has not been updated for centos-7.9? Thanks for your guidance. -- Raj Shekhar

Centos7/8 aarch64 for Odroid HC4

I recently got an Odroid HC4. I built an armbian SD and used that to remove the bootloader so I can boot the armbian up easily. Now it is time to get Centos working. Do you have a uboot for the HC4? (I can try the armbian's if needed) Is there install instructions and of course where to get the iso images. thanks

Copying uboot from one SD to another

How can I get the uboot off an SD card and then put it on another? dd is fine, but how much do I move? The whole 4MB infront of the first partition? Or is there some way to determine the actual uboot size and grab just that? thanks

Updated to current C7 and lost OdroidHC1 ethernet

I had an install of C7-1810 from 3 years ago on an Odroid HC1 that I powered up yesterday. I did a yum update that took it all the way to C7.9, and I lost my ethernet. It is not showing at all. Ideas on what to do for this? It should not take too much to go back to what I had before and start a new. Or use a different starting image. thanks

Hello the CentOS team, I just found something surprising, on http://mirror.centos.org/altarch/7.9.2009/kernel/armhfp/kernel-rpi2/Package… There, one can see many raspberrypi2-kernel RPMs: - raspberrypi2-kernel-5.10.23-v7.1.el7.armv7hl.rpm (initial) - ... - raspberrypi2-kernel-5.4.179-v7.1.el7.armv7hl.rpm (most recent one). But one can also see raspberrypi2-kernel-5.10.23-v7.1.el7.armv7hl.rpm, when all other 5.10.xxx come in "experimental". Am I wrong, or this leads YUM UPDATE to update to 5.10.23 and being stuck there (if experimental repo is disabled) ? Regards, Stephan.

Centos 9 status?

Greetings and long time not been around. I am looking at getting a current Centos-arm DNS server going and managed with Webmin instead of doing it myself (currently running my DNS on Cubieboard2 and Centos7 all zones hand-crafted). So I was looking at getting Centos8-arm and noticed that EoL is 6/30/2024! What? The main Centos list talks about Stream 9, but nothing about Linux 9. What is the status of 9? will we see something, say in the next month when I am likely to do this? thanks
