Hi Jim, We have the two patchsets ready and tested in our X-Gene 3 platform with the 4.11.0-44 kernel as you suggested before. Kubernetes support on ARM32

Hey, what's up! I finished building all needed packages to bring kubernetes to ARM. All of them were brought by simply copying src packages from CBS and doing minor or no changes at all. To my surprise, kubeadm ran perfectly fine, it got the correspondent arm image for each component. I went with weave for pod network layer, as it have network policy and ARM support. Manual changes, was to symlink all files under /opt/cni/bin into /usr/libexec/cni, otherwise the pods will not find the cni plugins and doesn't start (like kube-dns stuck at containercreating). And kubernetes-dashboard, you need to change tha image to be arm instead of amd64. kernel 4.14.17 testing for armhfp boards (not for rpi2/rpi3)

Hi, Some people asked for a newer 4.14 kernel recently as they'd like to test some boards, and not rely on the initial kernel provided by the vendor, so in fact relying on the mainline upstream kernel. As some boards received support in newer 4.14 branch (now also LTS) we're considering a bump from 4.9.x to 4.14.x branch for armhfp. Kernel 4.14.17-201.el7 was so built last week and is available in a testing repo : .repo file that can be created is : [kernel-testing] name=kernel-testing baseurl=https://armv7.dev.centos.org/repodir/arm-kernels/kernel/ enabled=1 gpgcheck=0 If you can give feedback that would be appreciated. configs directory, compiling a custom kernel for ARM

Hello: I am following the CentOS instructions to compile a custom kernel for ARM. I am following the instructions here: https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Custom_Kernel. I do need my own config which I have generated and copied to the directories as mentioned in the instructions. I eventually get to the step and start the build with : rpmbuild -bb --target=`uname -m` kernel.spec 2> build-err.log | tee build-out.log During the build, just after the "make -s mrproper", it tries to "cp configs/kernel-4.9.75-armv7l.config", and gives the error "No such file or directory". It seems that the BUILD/kernel-*/linux-*configs/ directory is somehow being generated by some scripts, and the config I need is not there. I can't seem to find out where it gets the config files that it places in the configs folder. Can anybody shed some light on this? I noticed that the running kernel is "armv7hl", and doing a "uname -m" returns "armv7l" (missing the "h"). Not sure if this has anything to do with it. Thank you! Chris

Help compiling a kernel module

Hello: I am attempting to re-compile a broken kernel module for the AltArch/Arm32 release. Currently I'm trying it against the current kernel, 4.9.75-204. In using "kernel-devel-4.9.75-204.el7.centos.armv7hl", and following the instructions for CentOS at : https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/BuildingKernelModules, when I do a "make prepare", I am getting the error: make[1]: *** No rule to make target `arch/arm/tools/gen-mach-types', needed by `include/generated/mach-types.h'. Stop. make: *** [archprepare] Error 2 I've been searching for a fix for this but not sure what is missing here. If you have a solution please let me know. Thanks for your help on this. Chris

x2go on Raspberry Pi

Folks I am trying to get the "x2go" package onto a RPI-3 server, so that I can have some form of remote GUI interface. Although "x2go" installs with no diagnostics, I can't find a GUI package that installs. I believe that x2go requires some form of gui desktop package on the server. I have tried MATE, GNOME, KDE Plasma Workspaces, and XFCE4, and all have unsatisfied dependencies. mvpp2 ACPI support in Centos altarch7-aarch64

Hi Jim, ACPI support for the Marvell Armada 7k/8k NIC finally landed in the mainline kernel. I backported all required stuff from the upstream to v4.11 and I'm about to create patch that adds a support in the kernel. Please check if my understanding of adding the patch is sufficient: 1. Place squashed patch in SOURCES/ 2. Update SPECS/kernel-alt.spec with the added patch ("5a27f64 - adds thunderx support patch per cavium list request" is a good reference for that) 3. Update: SOURCES/kernel-alt-4.11.0-aarch64-debug.config SOURCES/kernel-alt-4.11.0-aarch64.config And here's where I have problems. I took kernel-alt-4.11.0-aarch64.config to my v4.11 branch and tried to first build kernel directly from that point - it cannot be done flawlessly, as one have to manually choose multiple kernel CONFIGs resolution. Further I wanted to use make menuconfig enabled CONFIG_ARCH_MVEBU=y and CONFIG_MVPP2=m. It would be great, if you were able to let know, what's the easiest and quickest way to apply and test new patches on top of sig-altarch7-aarch64 branch. Thanks, Marcin

Kernel problems on APM X-Gene

Apologies for taking so long to return to this thread, it took way longer than expected to get to the machine and get it up and running again. I also just updated the build to the latest 4.9.60. Here is a download link to both binaries and src.rpm (download the kernel tarball from kernel.org manually to build from src.rpm): http://ftp.redsleeve.org/pub/misc/kernel/aarch64/RPMS/ http://ftp.redsleeve.org/pub/misc/kernel/aarch64/SRPMS/ To recap - I am also running with Tianocore EFI chain-loaded from u-boot, and mainling 4.9.x boots just fine on it. No need for disabling ACPI on the kernel command line, no need to run EFI firmware as a 1st stage boot loader, it just works. Do feel free to try it - if that works for you but the distro supplied 4.5.x kernel doesn't, it seems reasonably conclusive that it is the CentOS kernel that is broken for this board. I'd also be interested in learning whether you have any luck getting PCIe cards to work with it without problems - I haven't tried it since upgrading to 4.9.x, but certainly on 4.4.x mainline the machine used to reliably lock up as soon as the driver for the PCIe card loads.
