Network fails Raspberry pi 2

Folks I've been having lots of problems with Centos 7 on Raspberry Pi 2. The network seems to work for a while after a bootstrap, but then dies. The command systemctl restart network always fails. This occurs after installation and updates. I wonder of others have had this issue, or is my RPI2 defective? It's connected to my internal network by a wire-connection to a working Centos 6 gateway. I posted the results of journalctl earlier, so won't bother reposting. Is this the right mail=list to detect if and when the issue is addressed? David

CentOS-userland 7 images : call for testers !

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, For people with RaspberryPI2/Cubietruck/Bananapi boards, we'd like you to test the following images : http://buildlogs.centos.org/centos/7/isos/armhfp/ Please note that those are minimal, and obviously pointing to empty yum repositories (nothing released yet), but testing-base and testing-extras (pointing to buildlogs.centos.org) can be used. Be aware that the first goal is just to validate that images are working as expected, so packages in the testing-base repo are kept to almost minimal ! (more to come later after validation, etc) Selinux notes : selinux is disabled in the rpi2 image (no support - yet- in the specific kernel for that). It's actually in permissive mode (due to the way images were generated) in the cubietruck/bananapi images but can be put in enforcing mode with a relabel of the filesystem (takes ~5 minutes on my cubietruck ) There is the rootfs-resize-2.0-5.el7.noarch pkg that has been added, so follow the instructions in /root/README if you want to automatically resize/expand / to maximum We'd like to inject some helper scripts for that before release time (all those images are based on 7.1511 packages) The other important remark is that it's called "userland" as packages for RootFS are indeed the ones used in CentOS 7.1511, but kernel are different (4.2.3 for cubietruck/bananapi and 4.1.11 for rpi2) All comments/feedback are welcome ! We will need epel7 armv7hl builds

So I worked through some rpms and did hit things I need built for armv7hl, like: amavisd-new clamav (what happened to clamd?) and perl-Log-Log4perl has dependancies that need to be built for armv7hl. So not this week. I will get as far as I can in my testing and such, but at some point, I hope someone with lots of skill more than me helps out (particularly if you want a full mail server) or at least gives me some good pointers on how to build these. I have medon available to work on...

Announcing temp home for epel7-noarch

Got the initial repo built. I don't know if the gpg signing done for epel carried over to my createrepo, and am not going to take the time to test it, but others can and tell me :) I will set up a cron job to update this repo weekly. For example, roundcubemail is 1.1.3 with 1.1.4 in testing. At some point it will get moved, and I will pick it up on my weekly repo update. This is TEMPORARY! I do have a 3Mb uplink, but I really don't want to be the long-running home for this. At some point we want to get the epel team to at least provide a noarch repo, but prefereably the armv7 repo. Now on to see if I now have everything, or if I DO need some specific armv7 rpms... And of course, let me know if there are any problems, or any kudos.... Oh and if someone whats to take this over, I will share whatever help they need to do that!

spamassassin not in base

In looking what rpms I need for my mailserver, I find spamassassin missing. After a little digging I see it in the Centos7-x86_64, but not in the armv7hl base. I hope we will soon see this added. Probably take me a month+ off and on working on this server until I get it to that point. Do have other work I better get on to.

epel 7 noarch

I am working up the rpms I need for my mail server. A number of them I need from epel. For example, amavis-new which is a noarch.rpm. So I was thinking for starters I would create a repo with just the noarch rpms and then see what I am missing that needs to be built specifically for armv7. I go to: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL and see that the install rpm is: https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/epel-release-latest-7.noarch.rpm Huh? noarch? what is going on here? I go look at an actual repo mirror: http://mirrors.mit.edu/epel/7/ There is no specfic noarch repo.

making a .img from a mSD card

It takes me an hour to get an mSD card up to my 'clean point'. Everytime I want to step back, it is a lot of steps. So I went looking for my old notes on making a .img from a mSD with dd (I think) and coming up empty. Can some one point me to where I can find how to do this? I am doing something wrong with postfixadmin. And I want to step back and try again...

UUID for partitions

It looks like the UUIDs for the partitions are set. This only makes sense. cat /etc/fstab #Generated by RootFS Build Factory UUID=fa926fa0-ddcb-47ea-9731-ea5c92d9f959 /boot ext3 noatime 0 0 UUID=6d5e843e-7dd8-4d70-a08e-4ee9d26828d7 swap swap noatime 0 0 UUID=770af0f9-c7d9-4ae9-b024-1ba3c78d7550 / ext4 noatime 0 0 Does this matter? Should some script change the UUIDs for each installation?

How to deal with no battery for clock

Here is how I have worked out to deal with my boards not having a battery for the clock. After firstboot login as root. This is the FIRST thing I do, even before changing root's password so that timestamps are good going forward. date mmddhhmmyyyy #where hhmm is UTC time. timedatectl set-timezone <timezone> #(for me that is America/Detroit) date # to check that I have done things right. Now I can do what ever must first things to do, like change root's password. And the last step is: yum install chrony Now some short time for all future boots after the network comes up, chrony will adjust the system time correctly. This may be as good as it gets until/unless chrony comes in as part of the minimal image.

Bind working

Took a bit, but I have bind up and running on a Cubieboard2. I did my 'base' set up. I am getting better at this. I installed bind and bind-utils I scp all my conf files for my internal DNS test server into /etc, /etc/named and /var/named Fixed ownership (root:named where needed) and restarted named. Checked status and it shows everything loaded. Then tested rndc and could reload zones. I am going to wait until probably tues next week before rolling this into production. I am a little short of HD and have to shuffle them around. Watching for sales on unused 80Gb sata drives. Once got some for $10 and did not buy enough. Typical current price is $20. I won't update my production DNS server until C7-arm goes official. Just in case. Next though, is to start fiddling with my mail setup on a Cubietruck. This will be a test of a lot of software...
