gnome on 7.2/ARM

Hi List, just to let you know, I have a workaround for running gnome on 7.2 on ARM hardware. There is some issue with mesa/llvm which causes openGL programs to crash, including gnome shell. As a workaround I made a more recent mesa-private-llvm package and recompiled mesa to link to this newer version. Source rpms for this can be found here: http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/ftp.redsleeve.org/pub/el7-devel/el7/7.2/… Jacco PS, as we expect to shuffle our packages around a bit, the link might not be long lived :)

Announcement: CentOS 7 intermediate update to 1603 for AArch64

This morning we released an intermediate update for AArch64/ARM64 which contains a number of fixes and improvements: Improvements ============ 1. Improved support for APM based hardware, to include network installation support for X-Gene 2 / Merlin Boards. 2. Initial support for NXP's LS2080 SoC. 3. Packaging fixes for noarch rpms, which resolves a few build system issues. 4. The cloud-init, and cloud-utils packages are now provided in the Extras repository. Upgrading ========= Simply 'yum update' as normal. A reboot will be required to take advantage of the new kernel. Spec for ARM side libraries

Hi, I haven't seen anything regarding this so here's the one I use for my systems in case it helps anyone else. It simply compiles and installs the side libraries and executables and optionally symlinks them to /usr/bin. Please go ahead and clean it up if necessary, I'm by no means a packaging expert. -H

Broken kernel RPM

Hi, the kernel at http://mirror.centos.org/altarch/7/kernel/armhfp/kernel-rpi2/Packages/raspb… is broken, looks to be a compression error. Have looked around and found nothing regarding this. -H

CRDA warning message - solved

Hi all, if you are seeing after boot of RPi3 a lot of messages *cfg80211: Calling CRDA to update world regulatory domain* followed then by a message *cfg80211: Exceeded CRDA call max attempts. Not calling CRDA* you might want to get rid of this warning message (as I wanted). All you have to do is to install crda package (and dependencies like iw) which provides a database of frequency bands to be used for WiFi transmissions in certain countries/regions. So just "yum install crda" and then "reboot". You should not see warnings anymore. Maybe this will help somebody. Jan

CUPS package for Pi 3 running CentOS 7

Hi all developers, I'm currently considering to use Raspberry Pi 3 as a print server running CentOS 7. However I found that there is not cups rpm package available in any repo. I saw only client, filters and libs. Don't you know when cups rpm package might be available? Thanks for your answers. Jan

It would appear that above group isn't defined, but it is what mock uses to build a minimal development chroot. Is the omission of this group deliberate or accidental? I can add it trivially enough through a dummy repository containing nothing but a group definition, but I'm curious as to whether there is a good reason for this not being there in the first place. NXP Layerscape SoC Patch

This patch is based on 4.2 kernel and top of origin/sig-altarch7-aarch64 branch of git://git.centos.org/sig-altarch/kernel.git repo. RaspberryPi 3 image released

Hi, In the last couple of days I was busy on various things, but got help from Henrik Andersson (thanks a lot!) about bumping/fixing the kernel we used for the CentOS 7 image. The kernel was bumped to 4.1.19 and includes now additional patch for auditd+selinux support (yay !), and that kernel will also be used for the next Rpi2 image build Auditd works fine but there is still some issues with the kernel (built from sources) from rpi and the default selinux policy, meaning that actually the image is shipped in Permissive mode only. The emdeded wifi nic works, but needs manual intervention (written in the /root/README file) as one needs to download the needed firmware for that broadcom chip.
