The Odroid UART to USB cable detects the right voltage (3.3V (AMLogic, RockChip) vs. 1.7V (Samsung)) to take, so you don't have to worry about it. The connector itself allows to be used with single breadboard cables (pin diameter & pin distance), but I haven't found any cheap UART to USB adapters running at 1.7V.
Your statement is a little unclear to me. Are you saying that I CAN use a regular 3.3v adapter, as it detects it and works properly. Or are you saying, it detects the 3.3v and just does not work; that you have to use a 1.7v adapter?
