Yes, that would work. I'll prepare patchet based on 4.2-rc5 shortly. Thanks a lot. Are there new srpm for me to pick up and test ? I'd like to have a option to test patches at my side prior to sending them... And one more thing - should I sent patches all-in-one or separate each of them to be available/reviewed at mailist? There ill be about 80 patches in total.

We could pick a 4.2-rc5 fedora git hash to rebase to if that's easier for you. This would be fairly close to the vanilla upstream since I'm removing the kdbus patches.
Would that work for you?

Hi Jim,
We've prepared more changes in order to support thunderx but changes are based at 4.2-rc5 version. To update kernel from 4.2-rc2 to 4.2-rc5 it would take huge bunch of patches. I've rebase them to rc2 fedora tree and tested with kernel you provided (build rpms and so on). No issues so far.
Would it be possible to apply them onto your kernel or I should rebase them to rc2 (which could be painfull) or other version ?

I haven't, no. I'm in Cambridge this week so my free time is a bit limited. Next week you'll have my full attention.

I ran into a couple applying the patchset, but I think this is mostly solvable, and due to the fact that we don't have the kernel in git yet for common patching/updates. I'll play around with it a bit more this afternoon.

Overall, it will be easier when we have this alternate kernel plumbed into git and patches/pull requests can be done directly against the repo. I'll pull your patches a bit later today and try them out.

Sorry, I've been out at OSCON this week with somewhat limited connectivity. Were you able to get this sorted?

I've currently working on a kernel build that's based off the fedora tree. The commit hash I'm building from there is
228ccc4defbda4317b06d561e5fb532c774fe2e2
My changes are mostly to the spec file, and the removal of the kdbus patches. You can find the src.rpm for my kernel at -> http://people.centos.org/jperrin/kernels/kernel-4.2.0-0.rc2.git0.1.centos.el...
I have a bit more specfile cleanup to do here, but it will work to patch against.

Hi all,
We have some set of patches for our processor (Cavium Thunderx) and would like to add them to CentOS kernel for the time while they are being submitted into mainline.
Is there any set policy for submitting patches to be included into CentOS kernel? And which kernel version/commit I should base my changes on?
