Yum error - dependency spamassassin-tools

Dear Friends, I executed yum upgrade and yum show that there is dependency spamassassin-tools, but I have installed. LSI Logic controller status

Hello, Recently we bought HP bl35 blades with LSI Logic SAS controllers. mpt* drivers works fine but I would like to somehow view status from command line. To monitor e.g. if one of the HDDs failed. I found mptutil on LSI Logic site but it just shows me configuration in quite cryptic form. Thanks, Mindaugas

I did not see an answer in later digests yet ] FYI, you can use the '-d ata' option to smartctl to talk to your SATA devices with the -34 kernel. I've been doing this with a 2.6.15.4 kernel, but back-reved to 2.6.9-34 to test this and was successful. So if you edit your /etc/smartd.conf, you can have a line like: /dev/sda -d ata -H -m root(a)localhost.localdomain and you interactively do: smartctl -d ata -a /dev/sda Regards, Ken Key

Eggcups printer icon not showing up in panel

I did a "side grade" on a client's machine freom FC2 to Centos4.2. I am not seeing the eggcups printer icon appear when the user sends a print job. One problem was that I had to copy /etc/X11/xdm/Xsession.rpmnew into place so that the DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS variable got set correctly. The messagebus service is running, as well as hal. There is a notification area in the panel. I can manually start eggcups and not get an error. (It returns 0). But it immediately exits, and no printer icon. Am I missing something? I'm not particularly familiar with eggcups and its required configs. Thanks for any help, Steve Bergman

ATI X300 on CentOS 4

Hello Everyone, I'm running the x86_64 bit version of CentOS 4 on a dual AMD Opteron server. The graphics card is an ATI Radeon X300. At the moment, Xorg is configured to use the open source driver, radeon. The server itself is connected to a KVM switch, which has otherwise not caused any issues. Recently, the virtual terminals have started to go blank and then not come back. What I mean by that is that the VTs from 1 to 7 do not display anything (the server is typically running in run level 5). I thought perhaps DPMS was on, but no amount of typing on the keyboard brings them back. I then considered it was related to the vga=791 parameter I was passing to the kernel - there were many mtrr errors reported in /var/log/messages. However, removing that parameter hasn't fixed the problem. Restarting GDM or changing the server's run levels doesn't work either. Only a reboot resolves the issue. (Hmmm...now that I think about it, removing the radeon module and adding it again might be equivalent to the reboot). There's nothing in /var/log/messages or in the xorg log file to indicate a problem. All the tty processes are running normally. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this before. If so, is switching to the proprietary driver the only option? Is there anything else I can look at? I'm suspecting it's a driver issue, and so will shortly try the proprietary driver from ATI. RedHat 7.3 or Centos 2.1

Hi, I have a server that have an aplication that runs on RH7.3 and in Centos 2.1 Currently, it runs RH7.3 with yum updates from fedora-legacy My question is, should I update to Centos 2.1 or stay in RH7.3? Mixing FTP and HTTP file transfers

How do I deal with this? A content management system which writes to a user's directory as user apache. A customer that wants to be able to FTP through a FTP client and vsftpd those same files up and down, which is presently set to work with only their username. I don't want everything set 777 or even 707. Is there a way to allow a particular user to download and upload files owned by apache, and I would assume, when uploading, those files will need to be chown apache so the CMS can access and update them? I'm looking for a best solution which is not going to be troublesome in the future and which is not going to have adverse effects on security. Thanks, John Hinton

IINSTALLING CENTOS-SPARC

I downloaded the Centos-SPARC cd's via bittorrent but when try to install i got the next message: Can't open boot device I thought it was a problem with the Sun MicroSystem NETRA T1. Then i tried to install other OS and it worked O.K. So i downloaded the isos in other PC and burned them at 4X but i got the same problem. I just want to know if there's another repository where i can downloaded them, besides this one: http://beta.centos.org/centos/4.2beta/isos/sparc/ thanks again. --------------------------------- Yahoo! web & printer servers

Hi list, I have a Centos server (192.168.1.10) and HP printer (LaserJet 4250dtn) with IP 192.168.1.20. HP printer is connecting to my server via Ethernet and I can print ok. What I want to do now is trying to tie HP printer to my server, so when I type http://192.168.1.10/printers/, I'll see my HP printer and be able to connect to it, then print. Has anyone got this to work? Please help!!! I google and found nothing that can help me accomplish this task. Thank you so much for your helps. JC

Printing from apps as a regular user...

Hi. I mostly use my system as a super-user and so I can mostly do everything without worrying too much about permissions. Not too long ago I created a "general" user account which is automatically logged in after a few seconds for others to have (limited) access to the system. Mostly everything works (ie. CD/DVD writing, sound, floppy access, etc.) But when it comes to printing, only a specific "lpr" at the command prompt does the job. I've tried printing from mozilla, ggv and firefox without success. The funny thing is that an app such as gedit does print. (I'm guessing it's because gedit uses some sort of a2ps -> lpr combination). I have an Epson Stylus C82 connected via a USB cable and my system is running CUPS. Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks so much. Sincerely Jose
