Apache ModRewrite

Does anybody happen to know if 'for sure' the order in which you list modrewrite rules is the order in which they are processed within a .htaccess file? It does work, but I want to know that it always works. Basically, I have some multiple wildcard rules, where directories can't be hard coded and as it goes deeper into the directories, the more shallow levels interfere with the deeper levels. Advice on setting up Raid and LVM

Hi all, I'm setting up Centos4.2 on 2x80GB SATA drives. The partition scheme is like this: /boot = 300MB / = 9.2GB /home = 70GB swap = 500MB The RAID is RAID 1. md0 = 300MB = /boot md1 = 9.2GB = LVM md2 = 70GB = LVM md3 = 500MB = LVM Now, the confusing part is: 1. When creating VolGroup00, should I include all PV (md1, md2, md3)? Then create the LV. 2. When setting up RAID 1, should I make those separated partitions for /, /home, and swap? Or, should I just make one big RAID device? The future purpose of using LVM is I want to be able to expand any partitions that would run out of space into a new disk. Issue with /etc/fstab file

I did a clean install of centos4.2 and i noticed on boot up that my mount points had a "1" added to each. For example here is a snippet of my /etc/fstab: /1 ...... /boot1 ...... /var1 ..... of course just what is pertinent to the problem is listed?

Dmesg errors logged

Along with the discussion of system loading, I remembered something I wanted to add, but just remembered it. I noticed when I logged out, there was a brief flash of a text page (console I presume) that had some things I wanted to investigate further. Given it is a rather lengthly text file, and rather than clutter up the pages here, I stuffed it on my server so anyone wishing to look at it and comment can do so. The file is available at http://wa4phy.net/dmesg.txt Lots of segfaults I know which application they came from, but I don't quite understand about the keyboard errors and emulating rawmode for keycode 240. There also appears to be a few disk errors, both in buffer I/O and a few others I have no idea what they are. At any rate, would appreciate any comments, or if something needs a tweak, that too. Sam

Checking out yum localinstall before installing

I want to just see what will happen (ie success, or some dependencies still cannot be met) with: yum localinstall whatever.rpm I ASSuME (I have googled for this, but it is not clear) that localinstall will take the rpm, install it, and go to the yum repro to meet any outstanding dependencies. I just want to test this right now, not actually do it. I want to know what yum would install from the repro as well.

Discrepancies in Anaconda-ks.cfg after kickstart

I am asking this here, that although a kickstart question, may have something to do with the Centos install? I took my Anaconda-ks.cfg from my system, turned it into a ks.cfg and did the install. Everything SEEMS ok, but why? I thought it took their presence as the hint to > display in DOS mode. A screwed-up text file that doesn't have the ^M's on every line will display this way in Vim. This tends to happen when you transfer a DOS file to unix and then edit it with a program that does not do the conversion for you. The resultant file has ^M at the end of every line except ones you added with the unix editor. -- Bowie
