Installing centos in a Compaq ML350 G5

We bought a Compaq ML350 G5. When trying to install Centos, I got the message: No disk installed. and centos suggest me a list of drivers, but none of them seems to work. Has anybody tried this? Any help would be appreciated. carlos

Cannot execute /usr/bin/fetchmail

Hello everyone, I'm setting up a fetchmail command to run every five minutes so I can get email from another POP3 account. The fetchmail package was installed via yum. I can execute the command manually on the command line. But I'm having trouble when it's run from cron. I have noticed that commands run via cron and execute via /bin/sh, so I tried to run the fetchmail command manually. This is what I get: [root@scalix ~]# /bin/sh /usr/bin/fetchmail /usr/bin/fetchmail: /usr/bin/fetchmail: cannot execute binary file What could be the problem here? Anyone else having problems with fetchmail? -- Stand before it and there is no beginning. Follow it and there is no end. Stay with the ancient Tao, Move with the present.

Network freezes - possibly yum?

Hi. I have a CentOS 4.2 server running. I've just experience that it stops responding (http, ssh) when doing yum update pam xorg-x11 gnupg This has happened two times in a row, so I'm curious if anyone has experienced anything like this? Could it be yum or should I look for the explanation elsewhere? [root@machine ~]# yum update pam xorg-x11 gnupg Setting up Update Process Setting up repositories update 100% |=========================| 951 B 00:00 base 100% |=========================| 1.1 kB 00:00 addons 100% |=========================| 951 B 00:00 extras 100% |=========================| 1.1 kB 00:00 Reading repository metadata in from local files And here everything stops. Any tips on troubleshooting? smartd on Centos 4.4

Hello, I'm running CentOS 4.4 and am getting an error from smartd. This machine has a single ide drive in it /dev/hda and i was getting a bootup error from smartd, so i uncommented the /dev/hda line in /etc/smartd.conf. The error persisted when i tried to restart smartd, i got a service restart failed and the below error. Any suggestions? On another unrelated subject i'm looking for an ncftp rpm for CentOS i didn't find one in the included repositories. Thanks. Dave. CORRECTION : I'm using CentOS 4.2 not 4.4 Following what I do. I have no error. OpenOffice doesn't start after this. I have installed the full CentOS 4.2 release before. OpenOffice 2.1 with CentOS 4.4 x86_64 doesn't work

Hi, I removed the openoffice 1.1 release from my system (kernel 2.6.9) for install the full OpenOffice 2.1. But after trying to start the new soffice, nothing happen. (may be java problem ?)
