Centos 5 where is rndc.conf and named.conf?

In /var/named/chroot/etc there is no rndc.conf or named.conf. Where are they? Webmin built a named.conf, but it is missing many of the 'default' entries. And it did not set up the symbolic link to /etc I am trying to follow instructions at: http://www.wains.be/index.php/2007/02/04/centos-chroot-dns-with-bind/

Saving digikam photos for update to Centos 5

I will be installing Centos 5 soon and would like to know how to save my digikam photos from centos 4.4 for inclusion in the centos 5 digikam version. I have a external usb 2.0 hard drive to save the messages on. I know how to savethe messages on the hard drive. I am interested in knowing should I save the entire pictures directory or only the photos from my albums. I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me. -- Richard Miles Federal Way WA. Has anyone managed to configure totem to playback DVDs etc? Currently I have installed xine for doing these.

Mike, I know if someone has root access to my server I'm dead!, but in this case a non-root user can take down your server if he just run just :(){ :|:& };: Ulimit -u get this: [israel@node1 ~]$ ulimit -u 3072 So, I change /etc/securitty/limit.conf and add this lines to limit to 100 process to users * soft nproc 100 * hard nproc 100 Now: [israel@node1 ~]$ ulimit -u 100 And a non-root user CAN NOT take down your server.. My last question is? Why is not CentOS configured by default to aboid this known thigs? Hi again, I was reading from the net http://www.kriptopolis.org/node/4067 about a forkbomb and ran it from a root console in a non-critical machine running CentOS4.4 and the serevr goes down... the command I ran was :(){ :|:& };: Please, does anyone knows how to aboid this on CentOS? regards, Israel

Help making gnokii (cvs version) rpm for CentOS 5

Hi, I'm trying to package gnokii (using FC6 SRPM as base). I can build it without problems, my problem is that I want to upgrade it from CVS version. I download the cvs version (from cvs, because "current" tar.gz appears to be broken) but ... ¿How can I convert this CVS version to a "peseudo release" to make a diff from 0.6.14 and add the patch into the SOURCES? Thanks

Upgrading from 4.4 to 5

Hi, I have one centOS 4.4 with apache and some services. I want to upgrade to version 5 running: Yum -y -c /etc/yum.repos.d/base_centos upgrade Where the file bases_centos has: [base] name=CentOS-5 - Base baseurl=ftp://repository.mydomain/centos/5/os/i386 gpgcheck=0 timeout=1800 And, repository.mydomain is a mirror of mirror.centos.org It began to download all headers until I get this error: Error: Missing Dependency: libnewt.so.0.51 is needed by package crypto-utils Error: Missing Dependency: libnewt.so.0.51 is needed by package newt-perl Error: Unable to satisfy dependencies Error: Package initscripts needs kernel < 2.6.12, this is not available. Error: Package autofs needs kernel < 2.6.17, this is not available. Error: Package kudzu needs kernel < 2.6.13, this is not available. Error: Package hal needs kernel < 2.6.17, this is not available. Error: Package newt-perl needs libnewt.so.0.51, this is not available. Error: Package lksctp-tools needs kernel < 2.6.10, this is not available.
