ClaSS (ClaSS Student System) - error

Hi, I want to set up a Student Tracking system. So I installed ClaSS (ClaSS Student System). I set it up according to the README file. After configuring, I had to do a few things via web browser to configur the database by using the below URL. http://localhost/class-site/class/install/ Therafter I got the below info and I also had to fill a little bit. Welcome to the ClaSS Installation script. What you are doing. You should have already unpacked class into the top-level of your web directory. You should have already created a MySQL user account (with full privileges) to connect to the MySQL server. You will need to give a name for the ClaSS database you want created and of a separate password for ClaSS to use when connecting to MySQL. Need I say you should be running Firefox as your browser (with Javascript and Cookies switched to on). In other words, you need to know what you are doing... If you would like any further help or documentation please refer to the Your MySQL Account. Please supply details of an existing administrator's account on the MySQL server you are installing to. Name of host machine: User-name: Current Password: The ClaSS MySQL Account. The database to be created could be called anything but usually related to the school it serves. WARNING: any existing database on this server with that name will be forever overwritten! You may want to back-up first. A new MySQL account will be created for ClaSS with limited privileges. Be aware that if you have other installations of class running on this MySQL server then changing the ClaSS Connection Password here WILL STOP them connecting. In that case you must use the same password here! Name of ClaSS Database: ClaSS Connection Password: Re-enter Connection Password: Go Install. If you have completed all the above information: I configured the database. Then, It gave a sucessfull message. Then, Finnaly, I had to browse with below URL. http://localhost/class-site/ But , I got a blank page. Why is that? Is anybody out there runnging ClaSS? ClaSS documentation says, below list is fine with ClaSS. PEAR::DB 1.6.2 PHP 4.3.10-13 Apache 1.3.33 MySQL 4.0.24 But, My list is aliitle bit diffrent. I am running apache 2.x on CentOS 4.4. Can You help me? Can you also tell me some of open source student tracking systems. BUT RPMS are prefered. getting iptables log out of /var/log/messages

Hi, I have been trying to get the messages from iptables out of /var/log/messages with no luck. I tryied this settings: iptables -j LOG --log-level warn in /etc/syslog.conf kern.warn /var/log/critical kern.none;.... /var/log/messages # have no other call to kern o warn in syslog.conf service syslogd restart itpables -L -nv|grep LOG All seems ok, but the messages are still getting into /var/log/messages Is there a problem with iptables from Centos4.4 ? Hmmmm... Trying to load http://isoredirect.centos.org/centos/6/isos/ results in a Not Found message but trying to load http://isoredirect.centos.org/centos/5/isos/ returns a Forbidden error. VMWare vs Parallels, and Zen

I've seen several references to running VMWare under CentOS, but does anybody know how well Parallels runs under CentOS? On a related note, now that Zen is as mature as it is, are commercial VMs really much better than Zen? Miark

hard disk move to another server

Hello everyone. I am looking for a way to move a CentOS 4 installed production hard disk to another system (which has another hardware). The first has an nvidia sata controller (sata_nv), but the second has a via sata (sata_via). For all the rest of the hardware it can upgrade well I know, but if the sata driver is different, then the system doesn't boot because the proper driver is not included in the initrd file (grub still boots OK). Here is the error message: Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel. Red Hat nash version 4.2.1.8 starting mount: error 6 mounting ext3 mount: error 2 mounting none switchroot: mount failed: 22 Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init! Does anyone know how I could upgrade easily this initrd file to contain the proper driver, and even from another partition? Would it be possible to keep an old config-xx file and do an rpm upgrade which would automatically recompile a proper initrd-xx file for that new system? Thanks for any help. Daniel

Updates for Cluster Suite 4?

Understanding that much work is probably being done on Centos 5, are there plans to keep Cluster Suite's files updated? Specifically, the kernel modules haven't been recompiled for newer kernel versions. I'm going to recompile them myself from the SRPMS, but was wondering about the future... Thanks, Tarun

I have an application which runs on servers running everything between RH 7.3 and CentOS 4.4. My development hardware (RH 7.3) is getting long in the tooth and needs to be replaced. ok... if this can be useful for somebody. Finally, we can download the appropriate driver (cpqiss....), put it in a floppy and use it. But, ... Centos can't use it... We use a copy of RH Enterprise and all ran ok. So, Centos is not 100% compatible. And, now, RHEL don't recognize the Ethernet Card. Maybe we will buy RHEL and get the appropriate driver for being totally operative. I will keep you informed. Or, if you have a better idea. I will appreciate it. Thanks for all.
