Connecting to a Novell Server

I am trying to connect our centos 4.4 machines to our Novell Netware 5 servers. The goal is to allow the centos 4.4 clients to connect to the server and access shared folders. We are not looking for a single sign-on style solution just the ability to connect. I have tried searching google but I did not find anything really usefull as most of the hits pointed toward SUSE and in our case we have need to stick with a RHEL style distro. If anyone has done this type of setup I would appreciate any information you have. Thank you, Rob

intel se7501wv2 interrupt problem?

I'm having some really odd issues with the networking on this old Intel se7501wv2 The network card onboard is an Intel Corporation 82546EB I'm getting quite a lot of "[Errno 4] Socket Error: timed out" when I attempt to download updates on this machine. Other machines on my network do not appear to be plagued with the same disconnect problems. Not sure what kernel flags I should try, I've tried noht and noapic at the moment. I've also tried setting the network card to half duplex to see if that helps. ethtool -s eth0 duplex half No luck so far. -Mike

yum repo with Nvidia driver RPMs?

Looks like there's no repo that carries the Nvidia drivers. I enabled all the big repos in /etc/yum.repos.d and did a "yum provides" and nothing showed up. Where do you get your Nvidia RPMs from? -- Florin Andrei http://florin.myip.org/

Funny that IBM went one better and open sourced JFS instead. I'm in kind of the same boat as you since I was an OS/2 user before I switched to Linux. I think the HPFS information was from a discussion as to why IBM couldn't open source OS/2 as a means of continuing support. Remember, we're talking about the same Microsquish that has attempted to patent the FAT file system. I'd be very surprised if NTFS wasn't IP encumbered. Debian tends to be very paranoid as to technical features and stability but they don't have the financial exposure that Red Hat has when it comes to infringing IP. Cheers, Dave -- Politics, n. unable to build rpm from cvsnt.spec file on Centos4.4

Hi Friends, I downloaded the cvsnt 2.5.04.2047 version from achrives. I using Centos 4.4 and I am trying to install cvsnt through cvsnt.spec file. When I run the command rpmbuild --bb cvsnt.spec I get the below error at the end. I don't know the reason why the rpmbuilding is failing . What package or rpm do I need to install to fulfill this dependency or get rid of this error ? Mark: From a terminal window, run system-config-services You will need to enter the root password. That will bring up the Service Configuration GUI. Or, from the Desktop (I use GNOME), you can get there by Applications > System Settings >Server Settings > Services (easier to do it via the terminal window), which will also bring up the Service Configuration GUI. Look at everything with a check mark in the box. If you click on those things, it will give you a very brief description of what it is. If you do not need it, uncheck the box and stop the service, and when you are done, save the new configuration. Installing on Desktops, I find that Red Hat has Server stuff running that I do not want or need and that would expose the box. HTH, Lanny

Reboot Issues

Hello Everyone, I've got Centos 4.4 installed and fully updated on an ASUS M2NBP-VM CSM Motherboard. When I issue a 'shutdown -r now' or an 'init 6' it goes through the shutdown sequence and then after the final message "rebooting system" it just sits there and has have it's reset switch manually pressed. When I issue a 'shutdown -h now' or a 'halt -p' it shuts down and powers down properly. My bet is that it's an ACPI issue but I'm not sure where to start troubleshooting it. Any thoughts?
