XFCE-4.4, Samba shares, Beryl

Hi, I have CentOS 5 with the XFCE-4.4 window manager installed. (BTW, I've tried many XFCE-centered distros before, and CentOS offers by far the cleanest implementation). Two questions for that. 1) I've seen various HOWTO's about how to display Samba shares with the Thunar file manager. Did anyone manage to do this with CentOS? 2) Is there some HOWTO about configuring that nice 3D-desktop? I have an older NVidia card, a GeForce2. I wonder if this is enough. Kde rpms for CentOS 5?

Hello, Does anybody knows where to get a current version of kde (rpms, 3.5.6 or better 3.5.7) for CentOS 5? I want to change my desktop system from Fedora Core 6 with kde 3.5.6 installed on to CentOS 5 and I would like to use my ~/.kde directory without any further changes. Thank you! regards Olaf

xfs and yum update

Hello! Could you tell me why kernel-module-xfs is not updated when I run yum update, so I have to manually install module when kernel is updated. Is this my fault or not?

USB phone -- Help

Hi, I attached a mobile phone (its name I-MATE SMART PHONE) to a box running CentOS 5 by using a usb cable which came with that phone. Now, it shows /dev/ttyUSB0 Now I want to send a sms to my friends. I installed gammu. Pls see below for installed rpm. [root@mailgw ~]# rpm -qa |grep gammu gammu-1.11.0-1.el5.rf here's my /etc/gammurc file. [gammu] port = /dev/ttyUSB0 ;model = 6110 connection = dlr3 ;synchronizetime = yes ;logfile = gammulog ;logformat = textall ;use_locking = yes ;gammuloc = locfile ;startinfo = yes ;gammucoding = utf8 ;rsslevel = teststable ;usephonedb = yes [gammu1] port = /dev/ttyUSB1 ;model = 6110 connection = dlr3 ;synchronizetime = yes ;logfile = gammulog ;logformat = textall ;use_locking = yes ;gammuloc = locfile ;startinfo = yes ;gammucoding = utf8 I tried to send an SMS to my phone. So I issued the below command. [root@mailgw ~]# echo hello | gammu --sendsms TEXT 0714857135 Error setting device DTR or RTS. Then, it gave the above error. gmime-2.1.19 and mime decoding

Everyone, Please forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask this question, but would sure appreciate some direction if this list is the wrong place. Looks like Fedora 5 and 6 have gmime-2.1.19 as part of the distribution, but it is not present within CentOS 5 or with the extra repositories I would like to use some of the tools in this package to decode some mime e-mail attachments on a CentOS 5 system. If you can help me find gmime-2.1.19 for CentOS 5 or other ways to decode mime attachments I would appreciate your help. Thanks, Greg Ennis

centos 5 usb mouse failures

I have a box that ran perfectly under 4.4. gigabyte motherboard, AM2 4200+ systems. 1 GIG RAM. I installed Centos 5 on the same box. I now see the log entries below and my USB mouse stops working. What to do? PPS Kit - Nanosecond timekeeping patches?

Can anyone comment on the easiest way to get the PPS Kit kernel patch to work on a CentOS-5 system? I'd rather not use a plain vanilla kernel. http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/daemons/ntp/PPS/
