Apache 2.2.3 ETag weirdness.

I'm looking to clarify this entry I found in a changelog(line 2062ish) on a CentOS 5 box for Apache 2.2.3 *) mod_include no longer allows an ETag header on 304 responses. PR 19355. [Geoffrey Young <geoff apache.org>, André Malo] Loading the mod_include module prevents any ETags headers from being sent from the box. If I comment out mod_include, ETags are sent as expected. CentOS 4 2.0.59 with mod_include does not show the same behavior, and ETags are sent both with and without mod_include loaded. If anyone can tell me the correct behavior, and if I need to file a bug I'd apreciate it. My assumption was anyfiles with an  statement would not get an ETag, but regular html without includes would be fine. Best Patrick

MS SQL server

Hello List, I need to access some data a MS-SQL server ie run a stored procedure or user-defined function or a select every so often maybe 3 times a day. Have centos 4.5 on intel xeon. Is there an obvious certain-to-succeed approach? perl DBI + ODBC spings to mind, have not tried it yet - cannot access the systems yet - need to make a good plan. Am a bit concerned cos I dont know of an alternative to perl DBI + ODBC and I have heard a few anecdotes about how ODBC possibly problematic.. Any suggestions gratefully received and would be pleased to read the nice manual (if one is identified!). Tony

mailq.postfix manpage

On CentOS 4 I can't view the mailq man page. I installed postfix and removed sendmail. # LANG=en_US man mailq fopen: No such file or directory Cannot open man page /usr/share/man/man1/sendmail.1.gz No manual entry for mailq # zcat /usr/share/man/man1/mailq.postfix.1.gz .so man1/sendmail.1 Solved replacing with ".so man1/sendmail.postfix.1". Has this little typo to be reported in the CentOS Bug Tracker? -- Stefano Biagiotti

I'm trying to figure out where my bootloading breaks down on ltsp with a ppc client and so I changed /etc/xinetd.d/tftp... server_args = -vv -s /tftpboot but cannot figure out if/where it's getting logged - do I have to change something in syslogd.conf? -- Craig White <craig(a)tobyhouse.com>

Accidentally removed glibc & glibc-devel :: Help

Hi, I attempted to ugprade glibc & glibc-devel and ended up removing them entirely by accident. *idiot* What are the steps needed to get glibc back onto my system. Absolutely nothing is working at the moment, rpm, yum, etc. I presume I'm going to have to boot from a rescue CD of some kind. If someone could outline how to do this, or point me to some docs I would be most grateful. (CentOS 4.3) LC.

How to upgrade WBEL4 to CentOS4?

Hi, I've got a couple of servers that are running WBEL4 that I would like to upgrade to CentOS4. I noticed that there is a FAQ which explains how to upgrade WBEL3 to CentOS3, but haven't found anything similar for WBEL4. Are the instructions for the WBEL3 upgrade the same for WBEL4? Should I be doing something else instead? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Eric

question on alias IPs using ifcfg-eth0:x

When using ifcfg-eth0:x files in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/, should each file (where x increments appropriately) point to DEVICE=eth0:x or DEVICE=eth0:0? I apparently have my alias files all ifcfg-eth0:0 - ifcfg-eth0:7 show DEVICE=eth0:0. Is this right? It seems odd to me and while it does seem odd, the alias IPs are being appropriately responded to, answering pings and nameserver requests. The output of /sbin/ifconfig is what clued me in to the fact that I may well have done this wrong. This output showed eth0 and eth0:0 only. Suggestions are welcome and much appreciated. Trying to set up ltsp and their instructions are outdated for this setup. this is what I am referencing... http://ltsp.mirrors.tds.net/pub/ltsp/docs/ltsp-4.1-en.html#AEN984 Anyway, KDM is display manager and I am only getting grey screen with X # ps aux|grep kdm root 4275 0.0 0.0 3036 864 ?
