hardware raid vs fake raid

Hi, Does anyone know how I can find out if an ibm serveraid 8k sas storage controller (zero channel RAID) is a real hardware RAID controller and supported in the standard CentOs kernel or is it a fake raid controller. New mysql for the CentOSPlus repository includes mysql-cluster

CentOS has been distributing the Enterprise version of MySQL as part of our CentOS Web Stack that is in the CentOSPlus repository of CentOS-4 for quite a while. http://wiki.centos.org/Repositories/CentOSPlus/CentOSWebStack MySQL has recently changed it's policy concerning the distribution of it's Enterprise Sources (they no longer distribute them as a tarball): http://www.linux.com/feature/118489 CentOS has also had problems getting Red Hat to distribute their GPL'ed SRPM to us for the Enterprise MySQL version of their Red Hat Web Application Stack (due to an agreement between MySQL and Red Hat): https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=230412 However, as you have come to expect from the CentOS project ... we did not take these answers to mean that we would not be able to get the Enterprise Sources for MySQL and distribute enterprise grade RPMS to our customers. I would like to publicly thank Proven Scaling, LLC <http://www.provenscaling.com/> (and specifically Jeremy Cole) for continuing to provide the GPL'ed tarball in question. Because of their efforts and because of the organization that they contribute to known as Dorsal Source <http://www.dorsalsource.org/> we will continue to be be able to easily provide the CentOS community with updated enterprise RPMS for MySQL. I would also like to personally recommend Proven Scaling, LLC for any and all MySQL related work that you might need to have accomplished, they are good people :D That said, the latest version of MySQL that we are building for the CentOS Web Stack has a package called mysql-cluster. It was added upstream in version 5.0.40 of the upstream product and this (mysql-cluster-5.0.48-1.el4.centos.i386.rpm and mysql-cluster-5.0.48-1.el4.centos.x86_64.rpm) is it's first appearance in the CentOS Web Stack. The mysql-cluster files are produced by adding this switch to the compile mysql configuration statement: --with-ndbcluster For information about how you would use mysql-cluster, please see this mysql documentation: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/mysql-cluster.html This new mysql-cluster package is not required for normal mysql operations, and will be available also for CentOS-5 from the testing repository soon. Hi All, I want to put a ASTERISK BOX bend a Firewall. So I have given below rules. iptables -A FORWARD -p udp -d 192.168.101.30 -m multiport --dports 3478,4569,5060 -m state --state NEW -j ACCEPT iptables -A FORWARD -p udp -d 192.168.101.30 --dport 10000:20000 -m state --state NEW -j ACCEPT iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p udp -i eth0 -d 1.2.3.4 -m multiport --dports 3478,4569,5060 -j DNAT --to-destination 192.168.101.30 iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p udp -i eth0 -d 1.2.3.4 --dport 10000:20000 -j DNAT --to-destination 192.168.101.30 pls assume 1.2.3.4 is the ip that connects to the internet. I use Xlite sotphone to talk. I can register. it says user ready. I can dial extentions as well. Migrating from RHEL5 to CentOS-5 -- little report

Hi, Starting with http://wiki.centos.org/FAQ/CentOS3 I wanted to test how to migrate my x86_64 machine from in installed RHEL5 (fully updated) to the current CentOS5 without reinstalling. The steps I had to do were: 1. steps in RHEL5: a. yum clean all b. installing RPM-GPG-KEY-CentOS-5.htm from http://mirror.centos.org/centos/ (by rpm) c. installing by rpm from http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5/os/x86_64/CentOS/ the rpm's centos-release centos-release-notes redhat-logos yum partially I had to use the --force option for rpm. d. Trying yum upgrade. This step failed with the error msg: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Error Message: Your account does not have access to any channels matching (release='5', arch='x86_64-redhat-linux') If you have a registration number, please register with it first at http://www.redhat.com/apps/activate/ and then try again. Error Class Code: 19 Error Class Info: Architecture and OS version combination is not supported. Explanation: An error has occurred while processing your request. If this problem persists please enter a bug report at bugzilla.redhat.com. If you choose to submit the bug report, please be sure to include details of what you were trying to do when this error occurred and details on how to reproduce this problem. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I found out that files in /etc/sysconfig/rhn were responsible for this behaviour, so i uninstalled rhn-client-tools (from RHEL5) using the --justdb option and moving /etc/sysconfig/rhn to /etc/sysconfig/rhn.bak. Because /etc/sysconfig/rhn belongs to the centos-release package too, I made a re-install of this package. e. Now I could run yum upgrade which upgraded my system to CentOS-5 without any error msg. f. reboot into CentOS 2. Steps in CentOS a. the grub entries in /boot/grub/menu.lst were not updated: The title commands had to be changed to Centos, but re-installing the kernel had the same effect. b. Booting into initmode 5 and trying a graphical login failed because of missing themes (/usr/share/gdm/themes/CentOSCubes/CentOSCubes.xml) which belong to the redhat-artwork package. After reinstalling this package all OK. 3. The time I needed for migrating: about 15 Min. I think this time may be reduced if all pitfalls are known _before_ starting the migration. Any issues? Hi, I was asking about php 5.2 because I would like to use this program with these requirements: http://www.magentocommerce.com/system-requirements This ecommerce store is built with the zend framework and requires php 5.2. Mcrypt is not in the centos mirrors either. I did manage to get this beta ecommerce store installed on php 5.1.6-12 by removing the mycript line in the install xml file and also changing the initial install page code to not be less than 5.1 I wouldn't think this would be good to do for a production program. I would prefer to stay with the centos mirror as this is what I have setup. Hopefully centos will have php 5.2 in the future. Thanks! Unable to POST after suspend

Hi, I just tried the live CD for CentOS 5.0 on a desktop computer and decided to see if suspend worked. It seems it did, but I'm unable to start the machine again. It's a DIY system with an Asus K8V-X motherboard[1], an AMD Clawhammer 3200+ and 1 GB of Kingston ECC RAM. The system has been perfectly stable despite being utterly abused on a daily basis for almost 3 years. I've tried: - unplug power cord - reset CMOS - remove BIOS battery - remove all RAM When resetting the CMOS, the CPU FAN and hard drives power up, which it has never done before (IIRC). This is the only way I can get anything to power on, there's no reaction whatsoever when I hit the power or reset buttons. Please don't tell me that clicking a button in a GUI menu has broken my favourite testing PC permanently. Any hints would be very appreciated. apche vhosts ldap

Hi all, i am building a web server on centos version 4 running httpd-2.0.52 mysql we have a ldap server on the network which has got all the vhost details. so i am trying to pull vhost details from the ldap server could not find module vhosts ldap for centos. can some one please point me in the right direction any help is much appreciated. cheers phani

You could then preserve the IP addresses for both your internal and external addresses. You wouldn't even have to nat to the asterix box since the ISA server could handle the routing and obviously if the source or dest is an internal IP then the packet gets sent to the internal interface and vice versa. Document Scanning and Storage

I'd like to start scanning our boxed up documents. I'd say about 30,000 files total. Mostly to eliminate the boxes of paper we have. I'd like to scan them, store them, Have some sort of index, and be able to retrieve them on multiple machines. I think PDF would be the desired format. I'd like be able to set some permissions as well. (not a deal breaker...) I've searched Sourceforge, and have seen knowledgetree, myDMS, contineo, etc, but really would like to hear from someone that is using something similar. Of course, I use Centos, so..... Centos Router

With the current discuss of "Performance of CentOS as a NAT gateway", I am curious how many people out there are using CentOS as a Router/Firewall in an enterprise or service provider environment. For myself I am not really concerned about NAT just a stateful firewall. The other half of my questions is about performance. I have read many articles and posts on the net about performance tuning but they all seem to be about tuning a single host, not a router. Does any have any tips in this area? Is tuning even required.
