unable to add IP address to eth0:0 eth0:1 etc

Hi all, I need to (quickly!grrr) update IP addresses for which a given machine will answer. HP DL140 Help Required

Dear All, Salam!!! Well i am using CentOS release 4.3 (Final). From the start i installed the CentOs plus kernal; CentOS (2.6.9-42.0.8.plus.c4smp) I was facing the problem, that is system poweroffs, as this was happening randomly, but always found this problem in the night or even early morning. Also i assure you that system and all applications work normally in the office timings as i use to work on the machine and no problem can be seen, problem always occured in the night or in morning means after office timings. I checked; less /var/log/dmesg it says BIOS Corrupt. ACPI-0584: *** Warning: Type override - [DEB_] had invalid type (Integer) for Scope operator, changed to (Scope) I changed the kernel to; 2.6.9-34.ELsmp Well, system poweroffs too yesterday night, but this time no BIOS error in "dmesg" and second warning was there still; ACPI-0584: *** Warning: Type override - [DEB_] had invalid type (Integer) for Scope operator, changed to (Scope) I am not able to figure out the problem, if any one can help me???? Restrict User on Sending Mail

I search from google on how to restrict user from sending mail and I did trial and errors for three days already but to no success. What I want to do is to restrict some user in sending mail while some unrestricted user will send mail to internet and intranet. I am able to restrict outside address (i.e. gmail, yahoo) to not send mail on restricted users but the vice versa I can not do. Is there anybody here that have experience in doing so. Please help. By the way, I am using Postfix on top of CentOS 4.5. Below are some of the entries in main.cf: smtpd_recipient_restrictions = check_recipient_access hash:/etc/postfix/access, reject_invalid_hostname, reject_unknown_recipient_domain, reject_unauth_pipelining, permit_mynetworks, permit_sasl_authenticated, reject_unauth_destination smtpd_client_restrictions = check_client_access hash:/etc/postfix/restricted_sender #smtpd_sender_restrictions = check_sender_access hash:/etc/postfix/restricted_sender /etc/postfix/restricted_sender contains: testuser1(a)mydomain.com REJECT I already try to use smtpd_client_restrictions and smtpd_sender_restrictions with no success, is there any other way to do it. NIS binding probs w/Firewall and SELinux

I have RHEL5 Server originally configured and installed by me with Firewall enabled, but passing through NFS, Samba, and SSH. I then disabled SELinux. As you all likely recall, I had configured a test environment to get samba and nfs/nis up and running. I got it going, and recently brought it to a production server. After modifying the files on the production server and rebooting, I'm getting the long pause of the server trying to bind to my yp domain, then failing. When I finally was able to log in, SELinux warned me that I could get past the ypbind problem by issuing a command, which I did. I then restarted ypbind, and got a delay/timeout again. I'll check the log files tomorrow for any further hints. Is there a file I can edit to ensure SELinux is disabled? The system was initially installed with SELinux Enabled, then disabled later by me. In the meantime, I did find http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-9-Manual/security-guide/s1-ser… and will see if that may help. I think once I get past beyond the security issues, yp will work/bind fine. Thanks for any help/insights. Scott

Why CentOS as a webhosting platform

Hi, CentOS seems to be doing really well in the hosting business these days, and even for people who would normally have used Windows or OSX on the hosting previously, are now looking at using CentOS. And I thought it would be nice to have a section on the wiki about exactly why that is. Not having any direct connection with the hosting business I was wondering if people here could help me out a bit and let me know why they think CentOS is good / bad as a platform in this market segment. I suppose that would include dedicated hosting, VPS hosting, Shared / Virtual hosting, and even high performance grid hosting that a few people seem to be offering these days. Random Reboots

Hello, I am noticing that my server is randomly rebooting,(since i have keeping an eye on it, the server has rebooted two or three times in the last week before this i am not sure how long this has been going on) has anyone else experience any troubles with kernel 2.6.9-55.0.2.ELsmp. I am going to try to use the previous kernel to see if i still having these problems but still wondering if i am only one that is having this creep up on. my other question where can i look (logs, files, Directories) or something to install to see what is causing these reboots. thanks for all your wise wisdom. Sony LIB-81 & Bacula on CentOS?

I'm wondering if anybody has any experience running bacula with a Sony LIB-81 tape library preferably on CentOS? A bit more specifically I'm looking at either a LIB-81/A4 or a LIB-81/A5 and switching to bacula because we are starting to need something more robust than simple tar/dump for backups. CentOS 5 - base kernel vs. centosplus for XFS

I notice that the same versions of kmod-xfs and xfsprogs etc. are in both the extras and centosplus repositories for centos5. Is there any particular reason to use the centosplus kernel if what I'm primarily interested in is XFS filesystem support? I presume that if I am using the plus kernel, then I must use the plus versions of kmod-xfs etc., but I'm wondering whether I need the plus kernel in the first place.
