Hi, I run 5.2, how do I play m4v videos? I am not trying to remove any DRM, only to view some Internet videos such as Lightroom killer tips: (http://www.lightroomkillertips.com/videos/download.php?file=lightroom_folde…) uses m4v files. Any suggestion? -- Thanks

snmptrapd -A option deprecated?

Alle, The man page for snmptrapd (CentOS5.2/net-snmp-5.3.1-24.el5_2.1) *shows* the -A option (to append the output to file) is still valid, but it is not. snmptrapd -h omits the option and doesn't show an alternate flag. The option is still valid for snmpd. /etc/snmp/snmptrapd.options looks like this: OPTIONS="-A -Lf /var/log/snmptrapd.log -p /var/run/snmptrapd.pid" Does anyone know if this option is still available? Seeking advice about auth/home serving

Hi, I'm currently using nis/nfs3/autofs in a small network (20 boxes), and planning on using a more secure/elegant method. The thing is, which solution to adopt ? The network is mainly composed of Centos boxes, and a couple MS/Win ones. ldap/kerberos/nfs4 ? Directory Server ? Anything else ? Another point is, we have several servers with a local /data. Is there any solution to make each /data accessible to each server without having to maintain an awful fstab list per server ? (no way to deploy gfs). Regards, Laurent.

Postfix problem

Hi I have a CentOS 4.2 server with postfix. The problem I'm having is that postfix insists on using $myhostname in the from field even if I instruct it to use $mydomain in /etc/postfix/main.cf or even if I hard code the domain name into $myorigin. What am I missing? BTW: postconf shows output shows that $myorigin is configured to use $mydomain, or the domain name itself ... -- ttyl Paolo

Rebooting CentOS 5.2 XEN Guest

All, I have CentOS 5.2 XEN guests running on a CentOS 5.2 host. At one time when I issued an 'init 6' in one of the XEN guests it rebooted Now it seems to halt but virt-manager shows it as still running and the only way to get the guest to boot is to destroy the virtual machine and start it again. Unfortunately I didn't notice precisely when this change in behavior occurred, I believe it was the last 'yum update' that included a new XEN kernel, but I cannot say for sure. Has anyone else noticed this change in behavior? Any solutions to restore the older behavior, being able to 'init 6' the virtual machine was very useful. Thank you, Brett

How can I free the disk space after compiling kernel

Hi, I have recompiled my kernel and updated it to kernel-2.6.27. However, I found there are no more than 1G disk space left for my jobs. How can I free my disk space but in the same time keep all the compiled kernel modules (*.ko files) here? Can I remove the *.o files created by kernel compiling? Are there any commands to help me achieve this? Thanks a lot, Ian

formatting large volume

I just got a new server with a Dell MD-1000 SAS unit and 6-750 gigabyte drives which are now initializing in RAID 10 which will give me just about 2 terabytes. I vaguely recall reading that fdisk wasn't suitable for partitioning and wonder if I shouldn't be using partd instead. I am also wondering if I should use lvm or just mkfs to create the filesystem. Anyone have suggestions before I blunder in? Thanks Craig
