so many problem CENTOS 5.2 with DELL servers????

I have been installed CENTOS 5.2 on several DELL servers and have following problems (even latest patches apply): 1. DELL 2650 can NOT boot under CENTOS 5.2 PAE mode 2. DELL R900 can NOT boot under CENTOS 5.2 PAE mode (inifinite boot loop) 3. DELL R900 with 128 GB RAM can only see 15 GB RAM under CENTOS 5.2 Xen mode Anyone know why? IS CENTOS 5.2 certify with DELL server? Does CENTOS 5.1 have similiar problem or NOT? Cleaning up smp kernels

I have used the package-cleanup utility to remove old kernel packages, but I noticed that it only removes the 'kernel' and 'kernel-devel' packages. It does not touch 'kernel-smp', 'kernel-hugemem', etc. What is the recommended method of cleaning up these other kernel packages? Should I just 'yum remove' the ones I don't need? More current version of bluez

Centos continues to fall behind in with the state of bluetooth development. Nothing new from 5.1 to 5.2. Has anyone got a more recent version working and have compile and rpm build instructions? Kernel Upgrade and RAID Card

Ok, I've got a RocketRAID 2300 and when i do the update of the kernel it breaks the raid card since the OS is on the raid card itself, i need to install the driver into the new kernel.. Whats the best way to do this? I am reading the manual from the manufacter, but i dont see anything as to a new kernel upgrade. Thanks, Ryan Nichols

Slow samba and Realtek card

Hello, We can see # lspci 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 01) I have used a custom kernel to start with centos 5.1 as an initial installation Our customer on this kernel has experienced slow pref on samba shares (50 seconds to open a file) So I have decided to updrade to centos 5.2 that have the right detection of this card inside (2.6.18-92.1.6.el5.centos.plus) [<http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/HardwareList/CentOS5/RealTek/r1 000?action=show&redirect=HardwareList%2FCentOS5%2FRealTek%2Fr1000>] # yum update # reboot The slow samba shares didn't disapear at all ! I have corrected the trouble by doing this : # cd /usr/src/ # curl -O ftp://218.210.127.132/cn/nic/r8101-1.007.00.tar.bz2 # tar jxvf r8101-1.007.00.tar.bz2 # cd r8101-1.007.00 # make clean modules # make install # depmod -a # insmod ./src/r8101.ko # reboot After the reboot we can see that the r8101 module has been activated # dmesg | egrep -i r[0-9]{4} Finaly the slow samba share was gone ! Excluding packages from mirrored repo

The RPMForge Tools list appears to be dead, so maybe someone here can help: I am mirroring the Centos4 updates repo using mrepo. My systems are all servers and have no need of OpenOffice, so I would like to be able to exclude the 4GB (i386 & x86_64) of OpenOffice rpms when I mirror the repo. I have looked at the mrepo docs and done some Google searches, but so far, I haven't come across a way to do this. I see there is an "rsync-options" setting in mrepo.conf. Would it be safe to add an "--exclude=" option here, or is there a better way? -- Bowie

yum-updatesd not working on CentOS 5.2

Dear Srs, yum-updatesd-0.9-2.el5 appears that it's not working on freshly installed CentOS 5.2, using: # rpm -qa "yum*" yum-metadata-parser-1.1.2-2.el5 yum-updatesd-0.9-2.el5 yum-3.2.8-9.el5.centos.2.1 yum-fastestmirror-1.1.10-9.el5.centos I see some bugs ([1], [2] and [3]) in the bug tracker, and more info related to other distros like Fedora, etc.. with the same problem. yum-updatesd does not automatically update in CentOS 5.2, is there any patch for this? anyone using this daemon for Yum? How Do I Get Info About New RPMs in Major REPOs

I would like to know about new software (rpms) with a general description as they become available in the major repos. Is there a way to get an RSS feed? Currently, I run "yum --enablerepo=* list recent" in cron.daily, but it does not provide a description. I'm like a kid in a candy store with all this great free software.
