Problem with logrotate and compress

Hi I am using Centos 5.1 and I have a weird problem with squid logs rotation. I have the file squid as follow in /etc/logrotate.d: Recently I reduce size parameter. /var/log/squid/access.log { weekly missingok rotate 10 compress create 0660 squid squid missingok size 200M postrotate /usr/sbin/squid -k rotate endscript } /var/log/squid/cache.log { weekly rotate 5 copytruncate compress notifempty missingok } /var/log/squid/store.log { missingok weekly compress size 200M Any ideas? CentOS mount doesn't support smbfs type ?

Hi, I'm trying to mount a Windows folder from a Linux box with the command: # mount -t smbfs (...) but I get the error: "mount: unknown filesystem type 'smbfs'". Does this mean that CentOS mount doesn't support smbfs type ? If so, how can I enable it ? I'm using 5.1 Any help would be appreciated. Warm Regards, Mário Gamito

Firebug 1.2.0b4 for FF3

The current beta version of Firebug doesn't appear to install on Firefox 3 on CentOS 5.2, apparently because it's reporting itself as 3.0b5 rather 3.0. I tweaked the minVersion requirement in the xpi to 3.0b5 and it seems to be working fine for me now. In case anyone else is interested in testing it, my tweaked version is available here: http://www.openfusion.com.au/labs/dist/firebug-1.2.0b4-fx.xpi If it turns out to be stable we might be able to convince the firebug team to relax the minVersion requirement for us CentOS users. That's a nice trick though, I noticed after the 3rd attempt that it goes to our domain registrars nameservers, then segment faults again. But I'm sure this will do the trick On another server it worked as expected, and I could see which nameserver returned the query. Couple of CentOS 5.2 dhcp notes

1. Apparently, since I updated from 5.1 to 5.2, dhcpd no longer wants to stay running. The config is sound, and I can start it from the command-line with the "-d" flag and it serves up leases. But without the -d flag, it just silently dies... 2. Syslog contains this little snippet: dhcpd: Internet Systems Consortium DHCP Server V3.0.5-RedHat Figured you'd want to know... ;) -I

I have a newly built drive with 5.2 fresh install (that I will be cloning shortly) in my DECtop and it is failing with X the same way the upgrade from 5.1 drive did (not too supprising there). In 5.1 X worked. I could startx from init 3 and get into GNOME. Also VNC into the box and have a GNOME screen. With 5.2, I get a kernel panic. Well I guess it is a kernel panic because once I run startx from the console, my SSH session to the box from my notebook is frozen. I then move the drive and run system-config-display to get the unit to read the hwconf file and reset xorg.conf. This worked fine in 5.1. In 5.2, the system hangs. What to do? btw, i tried pci=noapci with no change. A couple other facts about this system. No accessable bios. When the system is booting (in character mode) the video frequently goes off then back on; some refresh problem. I have also seen this at times in a session on the console when I enter some commands. It would be nice to fix this. It might also tie in with the X problem. Thank you for your continued help. .

Acer 5920 audio chip does not work in CentOS 5.2?

Hi, I've installed CentOS 5.2 to a laptop Acer 5920 for dual boot, the audio works in Window Vista, but does not work in CentOS 5.2. Does CentOS 5.2 support following audio chip or not? Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) Thank you. Kind Regards, Jim
