WUBI like process for CentOS ?

Hi, Over the last few days a couple of people have asked about WUBI liks process for CentOS. I've had to look up what WUBI is ( to save you time : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wubi_(Ubuntu) ) . Now the question: is there anyway to get something similar for CentOS ? or is there a process that someone might follow to achieve the same or similar result ? - KB

question between centos 4.6 i586 and denian edge

I have a strange situation. I am using centos 4.6 i586 with alsa 1.0.17 and asterisk 1.4.21.1 (only the console/dsp or soudn port). running centos 4.6 asterisk will seg fault after awhile. running debian edge with the same installed packages it does not seg fault. running x86_64 centos 4.6 and 5.2 asterisk does not seg fault. What might be going on with centos i586 that it is causing asterisk to seg fault? Any ideas? Another thing I tried is put 2.6.24.4 on centos 4.6 (debian edge runs 2.6.18) I then re-installed my packages. Still the asterisk on centos seg faults. Asterisk is heavy in threads is this some problem? Any solution to that? Thanks for any ideas. Jerry

df to get total disk usage on all filesystems?

Is there a flag for the df command to get the total disk space used on all filesystems as one number? I have a server with a lot of mounted shares. I'm looking for a simple way to measure rate of data growth across all shares as one total value.

Does your UPS software have any logging capabilities? I know APC's PowerChute+ software logs everything it does. There would be an entry in it's logs saying it was doing a clean shutdown. Checking last shutdown state

How do I check the last shutdown, or any if possible for the status related to whether or not it was clean? I need to know if a UPS had successfully shut a few boxes down. Thanks! jlc

My first guess would be a Virtual Bridge 0 interface. Did you decide to install Xen during the 5.2 installation? If so then it would automatically start up its network bridge to connect your Xen Guests to your local network (if you mapped the Xen Guest interface to work on this bridge). For basics regarding your environment if Linux is your firewall gateway appliance and you have multiple internal networks behind it, then openvpn on the gateway is the simplest most effective way to connect the networks. Ssl vpn's can be behind network gateway devices, but then depending on the type of connection between sites (site to site or road warrior) you may need to configure additional routes on the gateway or each machine to return traffic. If its on the gateway for your networks then that box decides how to route it out properly. > 2. We do VPN's, Firewalls, and security for quite a few collocations and companies. Rarely is a company so security conscious that they want multiple layers of firewalls, and the complexity that can bring to the environment. Usually those that do have the staff on hand to troubleshoot complex networks as they need to adjust things. Not to say that this isn't done, many people do, but does your environment necessitate this level of security?
