simple website hit counter

Googling for this finds me a ton of stuff that doesn't actually do what I'm looking for. I want a simple hit counter cgi script of some kind that will increment a counter on every page load but I want to access the counter from a different page. In other words, I don't want to have a visible hit counter on the webpage itself. Centos and Bridging

Hello, Presently I am running CentOS release 5.5 (Final). I am looking to setup bridging as I would like to setup some KVM virtual hosts on my system as a test lab. I am following the the instruction at this site > http://tldp.org/HOWTO/BRIDGE-STP-HOWTO/index.html but I cannot figure out where I am going wrong and would be thankful if someone could point me in the right direction. sed with several lines, how?

hyphen's [ - ] are just for marking the start/end of a pattern, but there are _not in_ the pattern! experience with Sympa to Mailman?

I have a Centos 5.5 box with Mailman installed. A new user will host lists using Mailman, moving from a Sympa based host. Sympa isn't in the repos, does anyone know why? or have any experience moving the archive from Sympa to Mailman? Dave

Checking what's running inside a httpd process

I'm trying to fix a CentOS (5.5 x86_64) VM that we have where it become unstable due to swapping. But I did notice something: I have 10 httpd processes, and 5 of them are using 13 MB of resident memory, the other are using between 91 and 96 MB of RAM. I find it quite strange to see such differences in RAM usage. I ran a "lsof -P -p" on the processes, and I didn't see any major differences, so I'm wondering what is the best way to know what the processes are doing?

Copied from the man file for chkconfig: RUNLEVEL FILES Each service which should be manageable by chkconfig needs two or more commented lines added to its init.d script. The first line tells chkconfig what runlevels the service should be started in by default, as well as the start and stop priority levels. If the service should not, by default, be started in any runlevels, a - should be used in place of the runlevels list. The sec- ond line contains a description for the service, and may be extended across multiple lines with backslash continuation. For example, random.init has these three lines: # chkconfig: 2345 20 80 # description: Saves and restores system entropy pool for \ # higher quality random number generation. Nevertheless, I could have overriden that with the ckconfig --level <levels> <name> on command options to run on other levels. [root@hakan etc]# find rc* -iname *sample*|sort rc.d/init.d/sample rc.d/rc0.d/K35sample rc.d/rc1.d/K35sample rc.d/rc2.d/S91sample rc.d/rc3.d/S91sample rc.d/rc4.d/S91sample rc.d/rc5.d/S91sample rc.d/rc6.d/K35sample and the file comment looks like below which matches the above, startup priority is 91, kill priority is 35. How to install PHP PEAR stuff best?

Hello CentOS users, I'm using gChartPhp by having copied it into /var/www/html dir. It works ok, but I wonder how to better install/organize/maintain PEAR "packages" under CentOS? I've got the php-pecl rpm installed too, wonder if it's helpful here. Or maybe just add a dir to php.ini? Please share your PHP "admin" wisdom Regards Alex -- Sent from my mobile device

centos 5.5 -software updater-break in download

Good day, New to centos, New install . Using - Software updater While updating - downloading 73 updates there was a break in the download. The break happened close to the end. Now when using software updater again will it start all over again? Go on where the break happened? Could not find on google this issue Kindly some advice please. Thanks, Regards Johan
