ip aliasing on bonded interface possible?

Has anyone successfully created a bonded interface (bond0) with say two nics AND also then aliased that interface to get bond0 and bond0:1 (for an alias ip) I just want to know if it's possible and reliable Thanks -- Robert Arkiletian Eric Hamber Secondary, Vancouver, Canada

How to Retain Ownership on webdir

Hi, I have this webroot /webdir/ with 2775 permission so that any created file/directory by apache inside of /webdir/ will be 'users:webusers'. However, I noticed when the apache created a new files (fileB) / directories (dirB), the ownership becomes 'apache:apache' and the sgid has gone for /webdir/ (drwxrwxr-x). I'm currently using Wordpress. [before] drwxrwsr-x users webusers /webdir/ drwxrwsr-x users webusers /webdir/dirA -rw-rw-r-- users webusers /webdir/fileA [after] drwxrwxr-x users webusers /webdir/ drwxrwxr-x apache apache /webdir/dirB -rw-rw-r-- apache apache /webdir/fileB Why the sgid bit doesn't reflected and the group as well? Has anyone knows how to fix this? Thanks. Regards, James

how long to reboot server ?

we have CENTOS 5 on DELL servers. some servers have longer than one year did not reboot. Our consultant suggest we need at least reboot once every year to clean out memory junk. What is your opinion?

If i have a vpn tunnel with more than 1 ip Can i maybe configure the tunnel to give out the other ip to another computer Maybe a vm?

Alternatives to checkinstall?

I am reviewing some work that I did in June and forgot to take notes at the time. For some reason I have a nagging suspicion that for this job I used a package builder other than checkinstall but for the life of me I cannot recall the name. Now, the case may be that I actually did use checkinstall in which case not remembering the name of non-extant software is expected. On the other hand I would like to remove any doubts on the matter. If any of you have suggestions for viable alternatives to checkinstall for installing source packages on CentOS-5 as rpms then I would be much obliged. DHCP server 4.x rpm?

Hi all, Has anyone built an rpm for DHCP server 4.x for CentOS 5 or used a Fedora rpm? Anyone using dhcpd 4.x on 5.5 and can give me a heads up on any pitfalls that I need to be aware of? Hi, I'm totally new with centos...we have a cluster in our labo with centos oscar. The gcc which was provided with the release is gcc41 and gfortran41. There are packages for gcc44 and gfortran44. I have installed them. But the gcc is not a link to gcc41 or gcc44. it is just an executable. idem for gfortran. So which is the good way on centOS to choose the gcc44 and gfortran44 per default. PHP.ini question 5.5CentOS

I can't seem to figure out why any changes I make to php.ini and restart apache (apachectl stop|start; grep of any httpd processes), the settings do not update. php -r "phpinfo();" | grep Configuration Configuration File (php.ini) Path => /etc/php.ini Configuration I installed extensions via yum and they don't show up. # rpm -qa|grep php php-gd-5.1.6-27.el5 php-mysql-5.1.6-27.el5 php-pear-1.4.9-6.el5 php-common-5.1.6-27.el5 php-cli-5.1.6-27.el5 php-devel-5.1.6-27.el5 php-pdo-5.1.6-27.el5 php-5.1.6-27.el5 Can I load extensions via httpd.conf like how you override defaults?
