We have some ORACLE PGA problem and ORACLE document say we can serup lockmem(Max lock memory) to higher value. $ulimit -a time(cpu-seconds) unlimited file(blocks) unlimited coredump(blocks) 0 data(kbytes) unlimited stack(kbytes) 10240 lockedmem(kbytes) 3145728 memory(kbytes) unlimited nofiles(descriptors) 65536 processes 2047 Can anyone tell me how to set lockedmem to higher value on CENTOS 5.4? Thanks.

Interpreting logwatch

Every few days I see in the logwatch on my Centos-5.5 web-server what seems like a rather feeble break-in attempt. Eg today I see --------------------------- 403 Forbidden /phpMyAdmin/scripts/setup.php: 2 Time(s) /phpmyadmin/scripts/setup.php: 2 Time(s) 404 Not Found /PMA2005/scripts/setup.php: 1 Time(s) /TRAD_files/datestamp.js: 1 Time(s) ... --------------------------- followed by dozens of similar lines. As far as I can see, the IP of the person making the attempt (if there was an attempt) is not given. I'm not at all sure what if anything I should do about this. In fact, I'm not clear how one should deal with logwatch entries in general. Shutdown CentOS VM when closing VMWare Workstation

Hello, I'm using CentOS 5.5 / 16bit as a virtual machine in VMWare Workstation and have installed the "VMWare Tools" by running vmware-install.pl and vmware-config-tools.pl but can't figure out how to make the VM shutdown, when I shutdown the Windows PC hosting it. Does anybody please have any hints or scripts? Do I need to use any VMWare modules if I just want to shutdown the VM? LARTC and CentOS question

Hello all, Got myself the Linux Advanced Routing & Traffic control book http://lartc.org/howto/ All the commands in the guide do not survive reboots. Could someone point me in the right direction, where I can find CentOS/Redhat specific documentation on the whole /etc/sysconfig/network* setup? Kind regards, Coert Waagmeester

They just get 404s in return... You can check the IPs in apache error_log In the beginning I was reporting them to their ISPs but, with the high numbers of daily scans, I just gave up... Either they are part of a botnet (so clueless users infected pcs), or they are abroad (Asia) and the ISP will just mostly ignore your email... Maybe just make sure your set apache ServerSignature to Off... One annoying "bug" about logwatch is that it does not cope with the lack of year in yum.log dates, so it will happily report packages installs from last years as if it just happened... JD

GPL question

Hi All; I have a GPL question - sorry if it's way off topic. We're pushing on a system that collects a variety of data points and pulls them into a single report. One of the modules we use is a 3rd party tool that generates an html report which equates to one of the pages on the report that's then delivered to the customer. In this scenario is the code that generates all the other modules/pages of the report subject to the GPL as well? Thanks in advance
