Force CentOS 6.3 to discover new video card

I want to add a new video card that will drive multiple monitors. Current installation of CentOS 6.3 x86_64 is working well with the hdmi output of the motherboard. Once I install the new video card, how do I force 6.3 to discover and configure it? Seems with 6.0 and newer, system-config-display is gone and replaced with a combination of udev and xrandr. I'm not familiar with these and don't want to mess up a working system. Tips/pointers to some decent guidance/how-to docs would be appreciated. DaveM

Audio Editor

Hey All, I need some advice. I need an application, that will work with CentOS 6.3, that I can use to edit audio files. I've used Audacity in the past but it has compatibility issues with CentOS 6.3 that I would prefer to avoid. I've spent a couple of hours perusing the Add/Remove Software tool where I found the Gnome Sound Recorder, but that tool doesn't offer any editing capability as far as I can tell. NFS mount auto remount in case of problems.

Hi All. I have a setup in which I have two servers serving nfs share. The nfs service is made highly available with pacemaker. When the primary server goes down the secondary starts nfs service. Service IP is floating between servers but they have NO "shared" storage/filesystem so NFS state/connection information in case of failover is lost. I have two clients. When the failover from primary to secondary occurs the mount is stale and I need to manually remount the share. Is there a way in linux/CentOS to automatically remount nfs share in such case? Or should I just write a script which (for example) check /proc/mounts and execute it from crontab? I am curious if it can be done with "standard" linux services (automounter?) ;) Best regards, Rafal Radecki.

How to re-enable Adobe Flash in Firefox

Mozilla seems to have disabled Adobe Flash in a recent update. I have one 6.3 Desktop load that I need flash. when directed to the Adobe site and download the latest version, yum tells me I have the latest version for x86_64 already installed. I must keep the wife happy with Facebook and YouTube--and if the wife isn't happy, no one in the house is happy. How do I re-enable flash? DaveM

problem building partitionable RAID-1 on Centos-6

Trying to install Centos6 on my system (it's been running C5 for years). I've got a pair of drives, so I'm trying to use RAID-1. Previously I used a procedure where each partition was part of a separate RAID device, but this time I'm trying the HOWTO from the Centos WIKI on making a partitionable RAID pair. I've been having a lot of problems, but have also been working thru them. but t his latest one has me stumped, I'd appreciate some advice. Booting encounters a panic when trying to mount the RAID subsystem. you can see an image of it at users.rcn.com/fredricksmith/panic.JPG. Looks as if it's trying to boot from md127. there ain't no such critter, where'd it get the idea it could boot from there? or more importantly, how can I solve it? thanks! I may have to revert to the other method, but I figured this one was worth a try. Fred

Centos 6.3 and dovecot with an abrt problem

Everyone, I have a mail server running CentOS release 6.3 (Final) with 2.6.32-279.22.1.el6.i686 kernel that is reporting errors to me pertaining dovecot. I have appended the error message to this note. There is only one user that appears to generate this message, and it is generated to me by way of e-mail without a perceptible problem to the user which is not me. This particular user had an inbox greater than 2 gigs in size, so I asked him to move or delete unwanted files, which reduced the size of the inbox to 400 megs. Unfortunately, the abrt messages have continued. I did a google search on : "usr/libexec/dovecot/imap was killed by signal 6", but did not find much that I could use to help me debug this.
