guidance on enabling 2FA at Linux GUI level

Hi all, running a machine with Centos 7.6 that already has a 2FA PAM- enabled module for SSH logins. Mail server troubles

Hi, This is probably a bit OT, but here goes. I've been running our local school's mail server since 2013, with mail addresses for school staff and some teachers. The server is running CentOS 7 with Postfix and Dovecot, and it's a nice no-bullshit configuration with SPF, DKIM and DMARC. The school sends quite a lot of email out to parents, and sometimes, mail gets rejected: --8<-------------------------------------------------------- <xxxxxxxx(a)orange.fr>: host smtp-in.orange.fr[193.252.22.65] said: 550 5.2.0 Mail rejete. The school's not happy because in their eyes I'm faulty of badly maintaining their mail server. So my question to you: do any of you guys running mail servers have similar experiences? And how do you cope with it? SEcontext setting failure on an external harddisk

I tried moving a PosgreSQL database to an external harddisk due to lack of space on the main harddisks. Not the ideal solution of course but it should work. However, on CentOS 7 the external harddisk is mounted under /run/media and the user. I copied the postgresql database directory and made sure it is owned recursively by postgres, changed the necessary settings in both the systemd unit and the conf file. After that, updating the selinux contexts is required but that fails on the external disk due to a conflict which I understand is due it is under /run/media and the user. semanage fcontext kicked back an error message suggesting I try setting it for /var/run/media etc instead which works but restorecon -Rv for that directory fails to set the context which I can check with ls -lZ. Does anyone know how I can get around this? Is there an inherent conflict because it is mounted under a specific user despite the postgresql directory is owned by postgres? If so, should I mount it under eg /opt/ instead? Would that make a difference? Or, can I "force" a new context on the postgres directory tree some other way? Thanks!

Invisible files and disk space

Hi All, I have an older CentOS 7.4 system that is used for computationally heavy work. It has a 32G root filesystem, of which 33% is consumed. Lately, one particular set of jobs (run through the SGE batch scheduler) seems to cause a peculiar condition to occur in which the root filesystem space is exhausted but I can't find any files that I can use to identify which process is causing the problem. I'm guessing that the problem is being triggered by a certain set of jobs since it only occurs when those jobs are running. I would like to identify what the process is that is causing this condition to occur and my standard approach is to identify which files are using the otherwise empty space and then identify which process is using the files. It's not working, I haven't been able to identify the files. They aren't there. All attempts to measure disk usage of / by files shows that the disk usage is only a percentage of available space and that there should be space available. I know that space can be consumed by deleted files for which file handles are still open, not visible by ls but detectable but by using techniques like: lsof | grep deleted and for sizing find /proc/*/fd -ls 2>/dev/null | grep '(deleted)' | \ sed 's!.*\(/proc[^ ]*\).*!\1!' | xargs wc -c | sort -nr Applying this technique during one of these episodes shows nothing of interest. I'm definitely missing something. Are there any other techniques for identifying other "invisible" files that I can look for? Thanks in advance for any advice.

how to use intel UHD 630 display driver on CentOS 7.8?

Hello all, I just installed CentOS 7.8 on ASRock B460M Pro4 board. CPU is i5-10400. The display device is inside the CPU and the max resolution is 4096x2160 for HDMI. But when I connect my small screen (max full HD), the display resolution is only 800x600. >From seeing some info here, I installed EPEL for yum, and inxi. The "inxi -G" command's output is like this : Graphics: Device-1: Intel driver: N/A Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.4 driver: vesa unloaded: fbdev,modesetting resolution: 800x600~75Hz OpenGL: renderer: llvmpipe (LLVM 7.0 256 bits) v: 2.1 Mesa 18.3.4 So there is no intel driver and the vesa fall back driver is being used. I tried adding i915.alpha_support=1 in grub.cfg (https://access.redhat.com/discussions/3410491) (so that i915 fall-back driver can be used) but it was the same. The intel site only provides driver for windows. Could anyone give me some advice? (the board/cpu has no display problem when using CentOS 8.2) Thanks for reading. Chan Kim

dbus issue on centos 7 as a lxc container

Hi, dbus on centos 7 lxc won't work. Centos 7.7 and ATI driver

As you have seen in another message I have a failed system after an update from 7.5. I /think/ the issue might be with the ATI driver which seems to fail to load a framebuffer in Xorg.0.log. Is anyone successfully running a Radeon graphics card on 7.7? If so, might you share any issues and solutions? Thanks.

strange email from cron regarding "rear"

I don't understand what this means, I found it in root's email this morning: To log into the recovery system via ssh set up /root/.ssh/authorized_keys or specify SSH_ROOT_PASSWORD WARNING: /usr/lib/grub/x86_64-efi/moddep.lst not found, grub2-mkimage will likely fail. Please install the grub2-efi-x64-modules package to fix this. ERROR: Error occurred during grub2-mkimage of BOOTX64.efi Aborting due to an error, check /var/log/rear/rear-fcshome.log for details /bin/sh: line 1: 30339 Terminated /usr/sbin/rear mkrescue It is possible it has happened before, as until recently I haven't paid a lot of attention to root's email (I know, I know,... bad me). but I wonder what it's all about... I have not knowingly ever used "rear" or "mkrescue". BTW, this is on an up to date Centos-7 X86-64 machine. Thanks in advance! Fred
