force b/w printing

Has anyone an idea, how to force users to print b/w on a color printer. We are in the process to deploy color printers to some of our offices where they use centos 5.5 as their OS. They need the printers to print some advertisement material. But for everything else, they don't need it. And because of the costs of the color printing we would like to force them to use B/W where not explicitly necessary. Is there a way to force a printer driver to be just B/W even if it is a color printer. So i could install a second color printer which would only be available to a special print user.

yum doesn't exit

Running "yum update", yum appears to perform fine and appears to finish but continues to reside in memory: ... kernel panic not syncing fatal exception due to reiserfs -- rebooted properly on ext3

Hi we had one of our mail servers , going on kernel panic mode ( not syncing fatal exception) ... cause /var/queue/postfix was on reiserfs part .. it has not been giving us any isssue quite some time , but yesterday and today it went on Kernel panic mode , when we hashed out the reiserfs part it booted properly .. we formated the part^ on ext3 later and things working fine now . Could any one have a idea why this could have happened . how to install Atheros AR5008 on CentOS 5.5 in console-only mode?

Hi all, I hope someone can help me. I'm trying to setup a D-Link DWA-547 on CentOS 5.5 x64 in console only mode, i.e. there's no X installed. The Wiki article suggests using NetWork Manager, but since there's no X installed on this server, it's not possible. How do I go about installing this card? JBD: failed to read block at offset

Im getting errors like JBD: failed to read block at offset 4360 on a raid 5 parition , have run several fcsk on it.... are these Journal errors recoverable? OT -- apcupsd messages

Does anyone here have any "feel" for the "Battery disconnected" and "Battery reattached" log entries? The rebooting came as a result of me turning off modems, router, external drives, monitor, cordless phone and finally, the computer, trying to locate a quiet but annoying "chirp". The "chirps" stopped when I tilted the UPS to look at the front panel. As you can see, log entries stopped at as suddenly as they started. How to dual boot Linux (CentOS 5.3) and Windows 7

Hi,all : Of course I am new to Linux and dual booting but I want to learn so here is my question. I already have my hard drive partitioned into 3 partitions (60G and 150GB and 150GB) and I already have Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit (RC) installed on my computer. My question is, how can I install CentOS 5.4 64-bit (or any other version of linux) on the third partition? Is this even possible? Thanks in advances ....

Blowfish issues with somewhat big files

Hi, I've encrypted some database dumps with openssl bf -d -in dumpfile.bf -out dumpfile -k mykey bad decrypt 14142:error:06065064:digital envelope routines:EVP_DecryptFinal_ex:bad decrypt:evp_enc.c:325: The weird thing is if I do the same with smaller files it can decrypt with no problem. I use openssl-0.9.8e-12.el5 on Centos 5.4. Please could you tell me what I am doing wrong? /bin/su wont work inside a chroot?

On centos 4 (i386 chroot on an x86_64) it just prompts me for a password.
