startx problem

Dear All, I have recently upgraded mu centos 5 final to centos 5.3 using yum update i have the following setup which was running on centos 5 old server is centos os 5 now centos 3 with all the utilitlies Mailscanner 4.6 clam av 0.92 + spam assassin 3.1 mailwatch 1.04 after running yum server upgraded to centos 5.3 and download and installed latest mail scanner and clamav+ spam assassin centos 5.3 mailscanner 4.77 latest clamav+SA jules package now i see that system works fine but when i try run startx after loggin in the display jus hangs n system freezes only i can hard reset it i tried to see the /var/logs/Xorg.0.log but no much information when i run system config display my display card is detected n it works fine apprecite if someone can advice n help regards fabian -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.

gtk+-2 and centos 5

I'm a bit confused about how to compile somethingon Centos 5 that's looking for gtk +-2. ./configure errors out with this message: checking for GTK+ - version >= 2.4.0... no *** Could not run GTK+ test program, checking why... *** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the *** exact error that occured. This usually means GTK+ is incorrectly installed. configure: error: Cannot find GTK2 The best information I could find on Google tells me this: "Edit the script file , it is looking for gtk+-2 while you have gtk2 installed." That's nice, but how? I edited the "configure" script and changed all references to read gtk2 and that did me no good at all. VMWARE tools on Centos 5.2

Hello, I m using Centos 5.2 in my virtual machine VMWARE i've got the rpm of VMWARE tools, after double clicking on it, it installs successfully. but after this installation i still can not change my displaay résolution.. Postfix question: How to reject email with a certain subject header

Hello everyone, Occasionally I get emails which have a subject header of "Rejected posting to Blah", from a listserv I am on. Without going into a 10 page diatribe of why, I'd like to reject these automatically, sending them to /dev/null. I used to run Sendmail and that was pretty easy to do. How can I do this under Postfix under CentOS 5.3? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! usb issue on my motherboard

I have found this http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10913 I am running that motherboard with 2.6.18-128.1.10 x86_64 and I have the USB issues. I dont really want to use a later kernel for a couple reasons one being the ATI Catalyst drivers dont work on later kernels (I tried on another machine). Is there a way to take 2.6.30 (just since its the current version)usb/host directory and compile it as a module for the 2.6.18-128.1.10 kernel and just replace the ehci_hcd driver? I extraced the 2.6.30 kernel, and was hoping to just cd drivers/usb/host and make. It says no tarkets found. How can I do that? THanks, I just want to compile the module. Jerry
