I'd recommend using the beta of Gallery3 instead - it will be upgradable to the final version, and -3 is so much nicer to work with than -2. Actually, I've stayed on -1 simply because -2 was way too complex. You won't get it through yum, but you can update using git instead of having to download and untar new versions. BR Bent

Slow CentOS VM when running off the network

I have a CentOS 5.3 VM running under VMware on a WIndows XP laptop. Everything works fine when connected to the network. However, removed from the network, most everything in the CentOS VM takes minutes to complete. For instance, starting a new Terminal window takes over 3 minutes. I did an strace, and there are a couple of long waits when trying to open a socket (/tmp/.ICE-unix/XXXXX for instance). The host and the VM can ping each other fine, but any access to the VM (either external or from within) eventually succeeds, but it takes a long time. First, I thought I'd reduce the default socket timeout (which I believe is set to around 90 seconds), but I can't find where to do that on a system wide level. But I really need to figure out what is causing the problem in the first place. I'm assuming the network is somehow misconfigured, but I don't know how. Alfred

problem with centos 5.3 upgrade

Hi All, I'm running CentOS 5.3 x86, and recently my yum update isn't running as it should. It pops up with sub conflict messages for i386 packages, which I don't need - even though yum is downloading them. Due to this sub conflict messages, I'm not able to update/install my x86 packages, as the installation stops at the error message. Anybody, any idea how to come over this issue ? I'm not at a centos desktop at the moment, so I can't check, but it should be a menu entry in konqueror. It is, however, creating a static gallery. Hi all, I'm looking for a web photo gallery for my personal web server at home. Till now I've done the galleries manually from Adobe Photoshop Elements, but I feel that is a dead end, kinda', besides the fact that the galleries created are rather static. I'd like an easier way to do this, eg uploading images in folders directly to the gallery and it will take care of what needs to be done automagically, like resizing etc. So far I've come across a project called Gallery2, that seems to do what I want. Downside is that no rpm-packages are available with yum with this one. What web photo gallery software do you guys use? My requirements are only that the software should be simple to install, maintain and add more photos. I'm not a pro (a newbie more like it...) when it comes to mysql and php, so this needs to be easy to do as well, from the gallery standpoint. oVirt on CentOS 5.3?

Hi, Has anyone been succesful in installing oVirt on CentOS 5.3? While it looks like a greate virtualization package, they only support FC10, and the installation instructions are for FC9. So, has anyone installed it on CentOS yet?
