LinuxTag day One

The guys [3] at LinuxTag want to share some of the stuff they have been doing today. After setting up the booth [1] we started the usual socializing by doing this, we met Brian Schueler again who created a PowerPC 32 version of CentOS and even a ARMv5. This is quite impressive and we all gathered around to see a little demonstration. Further we talked to the usual suspects from Fedora and Red Hat which was represented quite strongly this year. Nothing special about the booth [2] this time we have an iMac on display on which we are showing some information about CentOS. Then we went on dismantling a thinkpad to see how it looked on the inside and some members of the team visited some talks. We are now off to the pub for some food and German Beer. Missing php* packages

Hello, I am trying to migrate one of our fedora-based servers to CentOS. Our PHP developers doesn't allow us to switch because there are no crucial (for them) php packages: php-smarty php-adodb php-accelerator It is not acceptable for us to download sources and compile them and repeat the process each time there is a security bug. Can you recommend any repository which will deliver all the above packages (and many others) ? I tried gallery v2 but it was too complicated to use(and hated the themes it came with I just wanted something plain), I just wanted something simple. You could use one of the gallery modules that best suits your needs. In addition, the system is flexible and will allow you to do all sorts of other things (blogs, share content, to do lists, project management, etc). I like it because there's no requirement for SQL and you can basically upload the original images straight from the camera to a directory tree. PHPix2 then lets the user view pictures in a variety of resolutions, with forward/previous thumbnails, album descriptions, etc. It's easy to maintain backup copies because it's just a regular directory tree. Downside is it hasn't been updated in awhile, but it may fit your needs... More at: http://phpix2.sourceforge.net -Greg

Use 8GB RAM on Pentium D?

Hello: I have a Supermicro SuperServer 5015P-TR. It has a Pentium D and is running CentOS x86_64. Can this machine use 8GB RAM? I think it should because it is running a 64 bit OS, but I am concerned because it is fundamentally 32 bit hardware. Anyone have any experience in this area?
