Question on failing hard drive part 2

OK, I've figured out which drive is bad. Before I go any further let me give a brief HD configuration explanation. The primary IDE has a 80gig(Master) HD, and an internal zip drive(Slave) connected to it. The two 200gig Hard Drives are connect to a PCI ATA controller card(Not a promise card), one is master, the other one is slave. It is the slave 200gig drive that is going bad. Now, I have a feeling this would be too easy. When I set the machine up, Cent OS set the drives up using LVM. I only have about 20 to 30 gigs of data saved on the machine right now. Maybe not quite that much. Like I said, I have a feeling that hoping this will work would be too easy, but what do you think my chances would be, that I could disconnect the drive that is going bad, boot the machine up, and it fully boot up, and all my data be intact, and LVM automatically resize the home partition down to around 200gigs instead of 405gigs? Interim RPMs for vmsplice() issue

Howdy all, I compiled a set of kernel RPMs with the upstream kernel patch applied. Obviously they haven't gone through the full QA process, but I know of them running on approximately 50 servers without any reported issues. Making FORWARD_IPV4=YES permanent / DHCP multiple routers

First, I'd like to configure my system to forward ip, to act as a gateway for my network. I've always used a script during startup to do this: echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o ${UPLINK} -j SNAT --to ${IP_NAT} This works fine, however I want this permanent so I don't have to run the script on startup. I have the firewall setup with SNAT fine, but when I write the file /etc/sysconfig/network with the line 'FORWARD_IPV4=YES' it still doesn't enable the ip forwarding after boot? cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward 0 So how do I do this? Second, In DHCP, you can specify multiple DNS servers: option domain-name-servers 10.0.0.1, 10.0.0.2, 10.0.0.3; can you also do this with routers? option routers 10.0.0.1 10.0.0.2; so that if one is down, the network PC's can fail over to another?

About NAT MAQUERADE

Hello everybody, í'm want to create a maquerade for my lan in the firewall server I know i can use: iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o external-interface -j MASQUERADE but I want to use this nat only for some IPs How can i restrict the nat maswuerade for an IP or Ip range? regards Roilan ______________________________________________ ¿Con Mascota por primera vez? Just kernel-headers and kernel-devel (or kernel-(foo-)devel) packages.

Good Day All, I have issues installing VMware Server on CentOS 5, its asking for the location of c header files, i have installed them all but i am still unable to install VMWare Server here is the output What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running kernel? I tried this but I'll try again tonight just in case I missed something the first time. I didn't check what pvcreate did but vgcreate after that gave me 2TB volume group. Googling around it looks like there is 2TB limit and there should be some kernel parameters to tweak but I still can't get a clear answer. Thanks Peter
