help with mdadm/mount

Just upgraded from CentOS-3 to 5 (yeah - probably not the best idea) I am using software raid In order to ensure that I had enough space on /usr (which was a bit tight), I had an extra partition that I changed to /usr/share from /etc/fstab... /dev/md5 /usr/share ext3 defaults 1 2 but it won't mount up at boot. It will mount after boot if I issue the command 'mount -a' (obviously because of the fstab entry). Is there something like an mdadm label that I need to change? Craig

Problem creating volgroups with kickstart installations (on xen)

I'm testing doing kickstart installations on Xen VMs. This is the first time I'm trying out kickstart at all, so I rather think I'm doing something wrong in the kickstart configuration than it is a Xen issue. I use a modified kickstart file from an earlier manual installation with a very basic filesystem setup. It fails with "SystemError: vgcreate failed for VolGroup00". The Xen VM file is allowed to grow up to 2GB. The kickstart commands for partioning are: clearpart --all --initlabel --drives=xvda part /boot --fstype ext3 --size=100 --ondisk=xvda part pv.2 --size=0 --grow --ondisk=xvda volgroup VolGroup00 pv.2 --pesize=32768 pv.2 logvol / --fstype ext3 --name=LogVol00 --vgname=VolGroup00 --size=1024 --grow logvol swap --fstype swap --name=LogVol01 --vgname=VolGroup00 --size=416 --grow --maxsize=832 This is taken exactly from the "template" kickstart file, I just added the --initlabel after reading the kickstart tips on the wiki. I read the kickstart part of the RH Installation and Deployment Guide, but it didn't help in this respect. Apparently --pesize=32768 is a maximum for volgroup extent sizes and is harmless. A little help with yum.d repo files

I'm new to CentOS. I was running Fedora core 3 before I installed CentOS 5.0. I'm looking at the files in CentOS /etc/yum.d and the same files in Fedora 3. I'm a little confused as I have never looked at yum before. I now have a full time connection so now I can use yum. I have been looking for supported rpms for XEmacs and Gnucash. OT -- FLASH question

sorry, this is OT. I'm using the 9.x flash plugin with firefox on Centos 5. I keep hearing about "fullscreen mode" in flash, and it is said that it works on Linux. How do you get into that mode? I saw some videos from youtube the other day on a windows box and they were full screen. On my Centos box the same videos play in a small window in the browser. Buf ... Solved. Problem was that /etc/pam.d/racoon doesn't exists (I found this tip on NetBSD ipsec pages). Simply I have copied /etc/pam.d/passwd to /etc/pam.d/racoon and now all works as expected. Xen VMs: regular filesystem corruption

It seems that Xen VMs are subject to file system corruption under certain conditions. I find that often when I reboot or shutdown a VM the filesystem is corrupted after that and the VM no longer usable. The xm create then fails with some Python errors and an eventual Runtime Error: unable to read filesystem No handlers could be found for logger "xend". Error: boot loader didn't return any data. and I have to throw it away as there doesn't seem a way to fix that (or is there?). I use files for storing the VMs. There is enough space on the drive. The problem seems to happen when I reboot the machine from within itself, not each time, but almost each time. When I shut it down with CTRL+ALT+DEL or with the Shutdown button it doesn't seem to happen. I also find that sometimes a good VM will start up and crash early with a kernel panic, but start up just fine when I try a second or third time. Most often this happened after a new installation on the first reboot. Anyone else seen this or known how to fix that? finding mysql.h & errmsg.h on CentOS?

I am not sure how to modify the config.h script for my CentOS 4.5 box (running Nagios + NDOutils). NDOutils seem to compile fine (./configure && make), but I'm having problems when I try to run the final command in the README file. ********* problems *************************** ndo2db-2x -c /etc/nagios/ndo2db.cfg Support for the specified database server is either not yet supported, or was not found on your system. ************************************************ Someone else (http://tinyurl.com/2jnef8) suggested modding the config.h file in order to eliminate that command CHANGE #include <mysql/mysql.h> #include <mysql/errmsg.h> TO #include </usr/local/mysql/include/mysql/mysql.h> #include </usr/local/mysql/include/mysql/errmsg.h> However, when I looked for mysql.h (e.g. "locate mysql.h") I couldn't find find them (maybe b/c I installed from package?). What might I need to do in order to modify this script for CentOS so that ./configure will run properly and let me install this?
