Logwatch for postfix

On CentOS5 with the latest updates applied, the logwatch filter for postfix returns way too many lines from the log. I get an "unmatched entries" message and all messages that have gone through the system is listed. Here is an example: 8F930A8092: to=<morten(a)foo.bar>, orig_to=<morten@localhost>, relay=local, delay=0.19, delays=0.06/0.01/0/0.12, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (delivered to command: /usr/bin/procmail) I have tried to look at the logwatch config and some google hits on similar problems but on debian. The hints there does not match what is relevant for CentOS. Anyone seen this problem on CentOS or is it some specific problem to my configuration? I use fetchmail/postfix/dovecot/procmail locally on the server to consolidate mail. Buggy SATA detection w/CentOS5 + Intel H6300ESB?

I've been handed a Supermicro system that is using the Intel® H6300ESB Serial ATA Controller (Supermicro P4SCI motherboard). When I install CentOS5, everything seems to work OK, but it has absolutely horrid disk performance. Upon further inspection, it seems that the SATA disks are being treated as legacy IDE devices using PIO. Gah.... Has anyone else had this problem? I recall having similar problems last year sometime with some Supermicro systems, but I can't seem to remember how I fixed it. :-) Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Best,

change md uuid?

I sometimes clone working machines by separating RAID1 mirrors and letting each re-sync with a new partner in different machines. What will happen if a mismatched pair of these drives ever end up together in the same machine? If there is any chance that they would automatically be paired, is there a way to change the uuid when moving to a new machine so that wouldn't happen? -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell(a)gmail.com

rootpw and graphical mode?

Is there some kind of caveat to using the rootpw --iscrypted directive and then specifying a graphical install? I always seem to get the prompt coming up... If I remove the graphical and do a text install, it works fine and if I remove the --iscrypted and put a plain-text password in there, it works as well. Any suggestions? - G

Printing multiple copies in Cups

I have a cups setup for printing purpose. The problem I am facing is that it doesn't print more than 1 copy of the same document in single print command. could someone guide me how to fix this problem?. Rajeev R. Veedu

Permissions question

My www directory is owned by "apache" and the group is "todd" and the permissions are 775. My Windows computers use Samba and they log into Linux with "todd". Under the www directory there are various directories which may have a group belonging to a user e.g. "viewpoint". Using this example, there is a directory under www (acutally called httpd), "viewpoint" that is owned by "apache" and is a member of the "viewpoint" group. "todd" is also a member of the "viewpoint" group. Now this is the problem I do not know how to correct: if "todd" using Samba creates a directory in "viewpoint", the owner and group is "todd" with 755 permissions. Now if the "viewpoint" user tries to write to the directory, he does not have adequate permissions. Maybe I have not setup the owners and groups correctly. maybe there is something I need to do with how Samba interacts with the server. Any suggestions will be appreciated...
